Mu-so toslink connection question

Hallo Playmates. I'm unable to get an audio signal when plugging in a toslink cable from my Mu-so to DAC which connects to my Samsung television. I have set the speaker settings on my TV to external speaker and have it set to PCM. On the NAIM app I select 'Digital' but it says 'not connected. I've used a few Toslink cables but none seem to 'click' when pushing in. I have also tried using the 'input' on the Mu-so but still no joy.
Am I missing something obvious?
Any advice greatly received.
