Hello all, just joined after moving from a Mu-so to a Uniti Atom - loving it so far.
Regards
Darren
Congrats with your Atom, and welcome to the madhouse!
What speakers are you using with the Atom?
Welcome aboard and a happy New year to you
Thanks for the warm welcome and a Happy New Year to all
@KLOUT10 I'm using B&W CM8's with occasional help from a Velodyne SPL 1000 ULtra. The atom is in my cinema room so i have it running through (sacrilege) a speaker switch as i also use a receiver for movies
Welcome the the krazy world of Naim. Yup its a sacrilege to use a speaker switch, but I'm guilty as charged as I had one once driving 2 rooms from a little japcrap 'system', then I got an amp with A&B speaker outputs, just as bad. But hey ho that was was back in the days when the world was 405 lines in black & white.
You have not indicated where you get your streaming from, why not post up all the details on your profile.
I am using a German made switch so hope i get some points for that. My streaming source is Spotify as i get it for free, although i have ripped a load of cd's onto a usb thumb drive
Speaker switch? If your receiver has preamp outputs connect the front L/R via rca cables to the analog input on the Atom, then using the app for the Uniti products go to your settings choose input and set analog to fixed volume. With that done all you have to do is be on analog 1 and the home theater receiver will adjust the volume for your CM8 and the Atom will simply act as a power amp, shutting off the preamp processing. I use this method with my Uniti Star.

That will be a plan for the summer as my receiver is in another room with all cabling going under the floorboards,. My receiver is a Pioneer SC-LX59 so yes it does have preouts. Thanks for the info, appreciated

No points for any switch, but you can take a -1 demerit for thinking a German one any better.
Spotify is OK, as is Tidal, but but you are missing the full potential of the Atom without a pukka NAS where you can store your ripped CD's (USB is so clunky), plus add the so much better SQ to be had with 24-bit & DSD HR downloaded albums & then with the Naim app on iOS or Android tablet or phone you can really enjoy all that HR streaming has to offer. Just hook them up via your broadband hub (router), via switch is even better, try to avoid wireless if possible & go all ethernet.
I do have a Synology NAS which has some music on already although i mainly use it for streaming movies to my cinema. I used the usb drive to cut out the wireless portion, to go all ethernet will involve a lot of work rewiring the house which is on the 'to do' list but not for a while, so for now USB and Spotify it is
Hi Darren enjoy, I went the same route but Nova, but only because to Atom was so damn good.
Just sit back on enjoy the burn in, the magic with the new series for me is less analysis and more boogie

That's OK, but using the Naim app for NAS & Spotify is just so-o much nicer.
When you do wire in th ethernet be sure to consider a LAN switch, apart from managing the switch/data mngt correctly (which your router hub might not) it might make the cable runs easier with just one cable to the router. (see pic) Also if it helps, you can run the all important ethernet NAS-Switch-Nova & a wireless link between switch & router via wireless. Or look at one of the Apple AirPort options.
