Top 5 albums of 2017
Posted by: spurrier sucks on 30 December 2017
There were a lot of good albums released this year. What's your top 5 of 2017? In no real order mine are
Beck-Colors
The Magpie Salute-The Magpie Salute
Dead Heavens-Whatever Witch You Are
Chris Stapleton-From A Room:Volume 1 & 2 I like them both so I'll count as 1
Tyler Childers-Purgatory
Only 5 is real easy this year I could go on but then that would be more than top 5
Beck's "Colors" is the only album on your list I've heard and I own it. While good, I find it trendy, pop-oriented, and less exploratory or creative than I'd have expected from Beck. Beyond that Robert Plant's "Carry Fire" and Neil Young's "The Hitchhiker" (recorded 40-years-ago) are the only other two albums from 2017 I've found worthy of buying. Sorry, I can't come up with five, but a good reminder I need to grab the Sgt Pepper re-issue on vinyl (recorded 50-years-ago).
My top five albums of 2017 are:
1. Aldous Harding - Party
2. Courtney Marie Andrews - Honest Life
3. Cara Dillon - Wanderer
4. Nadia Reid - Preservation
5. Martha Tilston - Nomad
There were other good albums from artists that didn’t quite make the list they include:
Robert Plant, Iron & Wine, Chris Stapleton, Margo Price, Joan Shelley, St Vincent, Jesca Hoop, Samantha Crain, London Grammar and Wolf Alice. I think 2017 as been a pretty good year for new music.

I agree about Colors but find myself listening to it a lot. Very addictive. This year I found myself listening to say more stuff out of my comfort zone. Kind of funny to me.
