Naim new products 2018

Posted by: jonnaim on 01 January 2018

i thought I would make my predictions on new naim products which will be announced in 2018 as opposed to be available to buy!

1) New crossovers to work with kudos loudspeakers

Reason already seen at some demonstrations in 2017

2) 3 new streamers to replace nds , ndx and nd5

Reason fairly simply  task of adding features already on unity range of streamers onto classic range to update and refresh the range.

thats it.

what do others think in one year we will see who was right?

Super Lumina Super Tone Control box - dial for setting the musical lumens level (2700 for warm, 5000 for bright).

Fraim Timer Lock - defeats upgraditius by preventing component removal for the first year of ownership.

Naim for Tesla - no, not another car audio system. In 2018, Naim will be selected as the official audio supplier for the upcoming mission to Mars!

No new product announcements in 2018, but late 2018 Naim will announce an imminent firmware upgrade for classic streamers, the first since 2016, to be available "early 2019"...

A 500 series streamer or combined with something new we currently have not envisaged, but at the 500 series level.

I imagine Naim is somewhat at a crossroads.     From what I understand the current range of streamers are now a generation or even 2 behind.   In order that it is possible to ensure flexibility I suggest for the future anything above Uniti level might be designed with the streaming and DAC elements in separate boxes.

Regards,

Lindsay

That way they’ll be able sell more power supplies of course.

Now you have got a wild imagination

I guess they are developing entirely new amplifier range

First one might be a (partly) Chinese manufactured class D intg. Amplifier

To save further cost it will be half width too

Their entry level Preamp Nac 202 will be replaced as it not selling much anymore, perhaps a selfpowered half width preamp to match the Nap 100.?

They may be working on luxury version amplifiers which will be offered as an upgrade to existing owners a.la DR concept ?

They are offcourse working on new streamer range

But most likely they have a Statement integrated coming soon.

Get Focal to produce a limited edition run of DBLs. Maybe twenty pairs. They would be expensive but a few well healed Naimees would snap them up!

And just how big/heavy will that be!?

With mains-supply quality deteriorating all the time, a mains conditioning device which passed Naim listening tests, and isn't the size of a garden shed would be nice. As the ultimate clean-source device it ought to be a monster seller, if affordable.

Anything that will give them as much profit as the SL cables do. Maybe Naim cable lifters or cable dividers. Something along these lines, and sell it for a couple grand for package of two. Put the Naim name on it and watch the people swoon. They will of course  have  that certain synergy with the SL cables that no other cable lifters can provide. If they use my idea, I'll only take a 5% cut!

Of course only Naim knows the sales for the classic streamers, but with the new platform available it is obvious that the classic streamers in the current verssion is the end of the line streaming technology, but at a high pricepoint. this is not a big problem for current owners, but buying from new is in my view a different situation. If sales suggest I am correct an update to the classic streamers makes more sense than a 500 streamer or the mythical statement streamer.

how about some Naim active speakers that run off a Naim preamp?

Come on Naim, you know we want them, and you can make them, so that's the delay?

How about a wall mounted Fraim shelf?  It might be called a WallFraim.  Just the thing that your LP12, NAC552, NDS, CD555 or whatever has been waiting for.

There might also be a good market in wall mounted shelfs purpose designed by Naim for the Muso and Uniti ranges as well.

Replace NA009 transistors with EL-34 ones in exactly 3 months from now!

Badlands - fair enough that you like to challenge what you to believe to be the excesses of the Industry but frankly such is your cynicism and obvious disdain for the company I’m surprised you continue to post here.

A 500.2 would be nice . Double the power output please.. I'm dreaming, of course.
