Naim new products 2018
Posted by: jonnaim on 01 January 2018
i thought I would make my predictions on new naim products which will be announced in 2018 as opposed to be available to buy!
1) New crossovers to work with kudos loudspeakers
Reason already seen at some demonstrations in 2017
2) 3 new streamers to replace nds , ndx and nd5
Reason fairly simply task of adding features already on unity range of streamers onto classic range to update and refresh the range.
thats it.
what do others think in one year we will see who was right?
My dealer had a meeting with had of sales at Naim recently and had a moan about Uniti launch and perceived lack of support for classic boxes. Dealer tells me,the customer who is waiting for a new streamer, 500 series and maybe an NDX replacement......Bristol Show?

Could be an expensive day out ???
NDS replacement is what I heard...
Mentioning the Bristol show..... do Naim have a booking system for their dems and if so do you have to get their early to book?
i am going to the Bristol Show this year for the first time in what must be close to 30 years and I would like to attend a Naim dem to hear what they are upto.
Richard
Nope, not listening, fingers in ears etc......
???? Only just got my NDX! Admittedly it’s Ex demo and was a very good price.

Richard, generally you book at the show Naim normally have a demo room and a separate stand area where you can book the demo do this first thing when you arrive at the show it can get very busy.
The NDS is what I would like, but no,definitely 500 series or £20k plus was what I was told, with power supply.......I am sure other streamers will follow later.

And you weren’t sworn to secrecey? How big a hint on the price? Never mind we’ll find out in good time. Having tried the teaser and the big fanfare and having had it fall flat on its arse a few hints dropped to existing customers who are known to be waiting it out may be the new launch strategy.
Here's a funny one how about an app that runs under windows 10 for the bigger half of the IT competent world !!!
To Yeti, it’s not a big secret apparently, I hope it’s wrong would love a 352 or a new NDS......don,t think it’s on the cards.

Thanks.
For me all I hope is that Naim will keep the look and feel of the existing classics range as for me for many years I have always aspired for that little green logo!!
I can only hope they don't change everything to the Lok and feel of the new Uniti range and the modern white logo! ????
Don’t worry Popeye. We may get the new screen on the streamers, but that’s as far as it should go.
Before Naim launch a new or improved series of products with all the associated risks are all the problems with the Unitis now resolved?

Work in progress, I think!

I hope so !!
I would be very happy If they’ll just update the streamers with new tech and a new display & volume control (like Uniti Series) this year and just add new modernized cases to all of their products, like NAC/NAP S1 and the Uniti serie. I think they will change the classic case design in future like they have already started to. I‘m fine with NAP‘s insides today but don‘t like the classic cases and the green light. That‘s what I hope for this year and what would make me switch from my Lyngdorf to a NAC/NAP combo. So let‘s hope, we will see.
It will be exiting to see how the new Statement integrated will look ?
Mini statement design, Uniti design or classic or something in between ?
I guess the classic look days are final.
Also they are possible working on a cheapo Chinese manufactured (Class D ?) integrated perhaps with final UK assemply

I think there are more people than me that would prefer a modern design with white lights in case of the NAPs and the display and the volume control of the Uniti/Statement for the NACs. Have a look at the NAP/NAC S1 that looks really modern and great.
I think the time really good hifi hast to look odd or dull is over. And especially for people having all their hifi stuff in their living room that would be a nice change.
I did not say that my Lyngdorf TDAI-2170 is more beautiful, but at least it has white lights ???? Just kidding. But that was one reason I had a listen to the Naim Nova. I think there is a market need for good sounding and good looking Amps/Integrateds and in my opinion it‘s not fulfilled by far. If there would be two amps that sound equal in sound quality I would buy the one that looks better to me.
Not me, I have aspired for that little green logo! For me the new Uniti logo looks cheap, certainly doesn't look any more modern either!
i found classic look a timeless design with its industrial lines
new line might look old in few years.... classics will be classics
but i am 45 year old white male, father of two, working 9 to 5 so i might be boring
I have both, does not bother me, both look like Naim, not Linn etc
