SuperNait 2 + SuperCap DR / Ovator S-600

Are the S-600's a good match for this combo? I've got the opportunity to buy a six year old shop demo pair in Zebrano finish for a very nice price but no chance to audition them because they are like 800 km away from my location and I've got no time at the mo to drive over there. I'm willing to take the risk ordering them unheard because of the price but I would also like to hear some user experiences.
If you are going to collect them, ensure your car is big enough. I've done a similar action.
Ovators should be auditioned imo..

Indeed the 600, perhaps no matter how nice priced
The 400 seem to be more loved for some reason, I would never buy 600 unheard, guess they need powerfull seperates too.
Can't let this deal fall through so I agreed on the counter offer.
I wouldn't go for 600s with a Supernait. I reckon they need more than that to come alive.
That should be a super system. Give it a few weeks or a couple of months to determine wether they suit your space. Sure you'll be fine. And upgrade proof to future box swaps. If not, if such a good price you won't have lost out reselling them. Good luck.
I love a great price and a great deal but hopefully you know the seller or the dealer that is letting them go. I certainly would roll the dice to see if the speakers worked with the SuperNait if I was comfortable with the seller. As mentioned above if they are at a great price you should be able to resell the S-600's if they need something more then the SuperNait to make them sing.
Best of luck and hope the speakers work out, please give us an update.
There are people using 600's on a SN. The previous owner of my 600's started with a Nap 200. This all works fine. True virtues of the Ovators are the silky BMR's and the dry controlled bass. I'm not sure if you reach this with SN / Nap 200 - I have my Ovators active (2xNap200).
Besides sonic characteristics, there are some reasons why 600's could be loved or hated. Personally, I like them much because they are of a high build quality, have steel protection grills, are cool to see, and my kids cant push them down. Just too heavy. The kid will be hurt, not the loudspeaker. These reasons were for me the primary reasons why I liked them.
And yes, I like the sound as well. Maybe you have heared Martin Logan speakers, they have a very polished / silky sound - but a wooly uncontroled / non integrated bass (sorry to ML lover here). Ovators have that nice silky and revealing treble sound, but also a solid bass.
The Ovators were my best source upgrade.
And also a warning ... the sound which comes from the Ovators is not easy or sexy. I have some BW speakers as well and anything I throw at the BW's is ok, but never special. On my Ovators I get now and then the 'wow' feeling and the impression that I could hear where the Mic was placed in the recording. Analyzing recordings is very easy on Ovators, but this is different to easy listening. Not good for background noise.
Theoosould work. But you will not get the best from the Ovators - pre-amp section of the SuperNait2 will be the limiting factor.

The Supercap on the SN2 will go some way of balancing up the pre-amp section, you would hope ?
Of course it would, but it’s not going to turn it into a dedicated pre-amp unfortunately.
I’ve run a similar experiment for 6 monhts and swapping SN for a dedicated pre was a significant step forward in how the speakers were driven.

Sorry to OP, its a bit of a sidewards step.
Adam, do you think N272 + 555PS is a sufficient streamer / source / preamp for Active Ovators?

Unfortunately I have not heard N272 so I don’t have any hands on experience.
It seems to be a very capable pre-amp / streamer, which punches well above it’s weight. It appears to respond very well to PSU upgrades. I do know what 55PS is capable of (use several myself).
There are many components that are critical to music playback. Source if of course important.
But when it comes to ‘defining’ or ‘shaping’ the sound (as I like to call it) a pre-amp is THE component.
So with the set-up in question: you have a very good pre-amp, top notch power supply and fantastic speakers. Bound to work very, very well.

Thanks Adam.
To the OP: on my Supernait 1, they sound already very impressive.
Just got the invoice from the seller and he said that I could return them if I don't like them so I can't go wrong here, very nice price and service.
From the manual;
"The Ovator connection terminals are intended to accept the custom-designed Ovator speaker connector. This connector is designed to provide the best possible performance."
Are these the NAC A5 plugs?
This are Ovator Plugs:
Its different. But the Ovator will swallow other plugs as well.
Ah, ok. Thanks.

Not unless you enlarge holes on the existing plugs or do away with the plastic and insert the pins naked - I did the former for a while when I had S600s but bought some of the correct plugs. New Ovators are supplied with the correct plugs. Perhaps your dealer could re-terminate your existing NAC A5 for you. Can’t comment on the SuperNait but they really sang with my 300DR. I have hardwood floors and also invested in a set of Fraim Chips for mine. As per an earlier comment do make sure your car is big enough as the boxes are huge. They are also a two person lift. For installation you will also need another pair of hands to get them off their castor trolleys - unless you fancy a spike through your hands and/or a dinged floor
Transit bolts should be inserted to lock the BMR suspension prior to shipping and don’t fell tempted to fit the plastic blaking plugs on the rear of the BMRs as the can rattle about and degrade the sound
If you are going to collect them box size: 1360 x 535 x 560 each. I have a Citroen Grand C4 Picasso, it just fitted. The boxes are large.
Best to get Ovator plugs. It’s not only about the fit but also compatibility of contact materials.
Also - watch out for polarity!!

You mean these?
The room they will be in has a vinyl floor so I'm going to buy these too.

Yeah, I'm going to get the Ovator plugs.

Hmm I hope you have done some safe payment & trust in seller or if its a well known dealer ?
Many scammers offer free shipping to your doorstep with a price too good to be true, just use Western U..
