I have a MUSO QB, and a much older naim NAIT5 SI that currently uses an airport express as the DAC. I have updated the QB firmware and the app.
My goal has always been to a) have great sound and b) have music synchronized between 2 rooms.
The bulk of my music is in an apple itunes library. I either play the music from my phone, or from the mothership -- a desktop, streamed over the apple network.
The concept, when I bought the system from a stereo store, was that apple airplay was the solution to all my needs.
The remote function on my phone made it possible to play to the various linked speakers, at the same time if i wanted.
1) Initially, there was one problem: the MusoQB was dropping. When I contacted Naim, they said it was my internet connection but I can see on two different wifi analyzers that it is not my wifi connection that is dropping at all. I need a fix for this one. It is driving me absolutely crazy.
2) Assuming I can fix his one and don't have to throw the thing out in sadness, I want to know why it won't be airplay2 compatible. If it's a hardware issue and not a firmware issue, Muso should offer to let us send ours back and upgrade it. $2000 is too much for disposable technology.
Help please!

The dropping of of playback during Airplay is "usually" due to a poor wifi network connection.
Your router must be top notch and with a very good, strong signal to the QB and Airport Express.
My own two QB's are connected using wifi and my SuperUniti by ethernet cable to a switch which also is connected to my NAS drive.
That switch is plugged directly into my brand new ISP provided router. (New NBN Telstra provided FAST5355 router - I'm currently in Australia)
I have no issues with drop outs but do have a brand new, "latest technology" router.
All of my wi-fi access points (apart from my main wifi router) are using Airport Express or Extreme, hard wired back to the main router which handles all IP addresses and streaming duties.
If your wifi analyser shows Bonjour or upnp dropping off, that means your connection is not stable for the QB. Make sure you have an absolutely stable, constant connection, with all required services showing always.
For testing, try moving the QB closer to the wifi access point. Or plugging it in using an ethernet cable. If that works, you'll need to improve your wifi connection.
With regards to Airplay2, that's one you'll have to ask Naim about as I have no idea what it even is...

Airplay 2 will, if I understand it correctly, allow multiroom playback from iOS devices. Streaming iTunes from a Mac already allows multiroom playback to any Airplay enabled devices, including Apple and non-Apple hardware. So as long as you are not dependent on playing music on an iOS device without a Mac, you should be able to do this now.

Hi Bookworm.
1. Are you using multiple airports in an extended network setup? If so, you might check your airport firmware. 7.7.9 (the latest) has been found to be a bit flaky. Downgrading to 7.7.8 or 7.7.7 might help. This will help with airport routers staying connected to each other.
2. Are you using dynamic or static ip addressing? If you're using dynamic addressing, things can get mucked up as the dns look-up tables might be out of whack a bit. I highly recommend going to DHCP reservations, so device addresses don't change. When you do this, you'll need to flush dns caches and restart things.
3. BTW, do you have multiple devices in your environment that may be running the naim app at the same time? I can't remember the setting on the naim app, but it's 'stay alive' or something.. having two naim apps open at the same time can cause a freeze up on the target device. I realize you're using airplay, but keep this in mind..
I went through a mucky bit but now stream from nas to atom over three airport extreme's quite reliably. Sometimes the Naim app gets a bit 'behind' controlling the atom, and things need a restart, but I do have a lot going on..15 or so devices on the network.
