Do Naim replace the CMOS battery during service?

Posted by: Consciousmess on 09 January 2018

Hi, I bought my HDX second hand and promptly got it serviced and upgraded, but reading other forums suspect the CMOS battery is running low - and I understand this powers the BIOS and may be a factor in why the machine temporarily crashes (“System Error”).

Any advice?

You probably need to ask Naim but anyway it is trivial to change the CMOS battery. You could probably do it yourself or get your dealer to do it for you. In any case it's much better to change it unnecessarily than to have it go flat and have to get Naim or your dealer re-initialise the HDX software or BIOS or whatever it is they have to do then.

Anyway I've probably gone as far as the forum rules allow....

I would suggest you speak to Naim.  Anything inside the case is vulnerable to electrostatic damage so unless you can take full precautions with the right kit then you should leave well alone.
