How exciting! It’s always fun when new boxes arrive. I’ve never had the pleasure of hearing active SBLs. Last year I ummed and ahed about whether to go active with two 250s, or go to a single 300, and on balance chose the latter route in order to keep things simple. It’s great that with the SBLs you have the choice.

Brings back memories of my Cds,82, active SBL days......wonderful piece of kit. Makes me ask the question how it would stack up against current offerings.

The temptation to go active is always nagging at me. The cost is fairly extreme though and would probably involve moving the 272 on as, to do it justice, I’d likely need a dedicated pre-amp at 282 minimum. Maybe one day. Do let us know how you get in with set up and how it sounds. Enjoy.....

Enjoy it, the enjoyment of setting up and unboxing is great especially with the anticipation of initial turn on! And knowing things will only get better.

First tracks playing. Needs to warm up but from the first note can tell it’s going to be a bit special.

had the um and ah before ordering, do I really want the extra boxes. Now things have warmed up it’s a delight to listen to. Cannot wait for everything to burn in. 

The choice with naim full stop is great.

All good on the cables. I guess this has been an issue as my dealer said the same.

Agreed. I love the tech side, stacking the Fraim, dressing the cables and then that familiar thump as you depress the power button
