after a short battle with her indoors I decided/was told that kudos c20 had to go as they dominated the room, so I looked at alternatives and I had a pair of linn sara that Could be placed against the wall.
now it turns out they are early sara 9’s so result, and I have swapped Kudos for a nac 82 that was serviced and fitted pots 8 in December.
just received today and set up in quick sticks, then put on talk talk colour of spring, wow it sounds absolutely fantastic, it sounded good before but now it’s really singing.
so I think I came out on the right side of this compromise.
Now I know sara’s aren’t everyone’s cup of tea but on the end of my Garrard 401 Jelco 12”, Decca London gold,hi cap and naim 250 all serviced and rebuilt it just works.
Happy chappie..

I run 82/Hicap/2*135, I’ve thought about upgrading over the years, but always end up realising I spend my free time loving listening to music through it, and that’s what it’s all about. You’ve got a great system there, I hope you have many years of enjoyment.

Yes it can be a risk but I had picked up the sara’s A while ago at a good price,
Also the 82 has been on the list of upgrades so yes I’m happy.
Her indoors wants tiny little white speakers to match the painted woodwork in the room, but that’s a step to far.
she is even talking about a purpose built garden listening room to get her living room back.
this could be my lucky day.

Nice story. Many here and elsewhere make claims about how much loudspeakers have advanced over the last 10-20 years. But then you see how many people still use ‘Bariks, Sara’s, Kans, , DBLs, SBLs, ESLs and so on. I have heard new Linn and Kudos models and am less than impressed. Enjoy your ‘new’ Sara’s...

I 'only' have the Kudos C2's and they're fantastic, easily better than SBL's and Kans, but they do like room to breathe

Yes the C20 sounded great in a bit of free space, but when very close to the wall they had a tendency to be a tad base heavy overpowering the room and a hard listen if you get my meaning.
Hi fi and the home are sometimes at odds with each other and a happy wife means a happy life.
Certainly loving what I’ve ended up listening to.
