Naim connections

Posted by: vilco on 25 January 2018

Goodmorning everyone
I hope I have not done damage to my devices, yesterday by chance I realized that the connections between the nac 62 to hicap to nap 150x were wrong.
As I am new with Naim equipment, I kindly ask you how I need to connect the devices correctly.
Also I have a flatcap2 that I used with the cd5, sold the cdplayer I have the flatcap, I can use it to feed only the final, and hicap only feeds the preamplifier.
Thank you and sorry for my english.

Connect socket 4 on the Hicap to the 5 pin socket on the 62, using a 5 pin snaic cable. You need to remove the little round link plug from the socket on the 62. The band on the cable goes at the 62 end. Connect socket 3 on the Hicap to the 150, using a 4 pin snaic cable. The band on the cable goes at the Hicap end.

You cannot use the flatcap.

I hope that makes sense.

Ok perfect.

I do not understand which one  the little round link plug from the socket on the 62.

Thank You

If you wanted to use the 62 without a Hicap this would mean connecting the 62 to the 150 with a 4 pin snaic lead, and you would need a link plug in the 5 pin socket on the 62. But as you are using a Hicap the link plug must be removed. If you don’t have one, it has been removed already. With the Hicap in use, there is no direct connection from the 62 to the 150. The signal goes from the 62 to the Hicap and then to the 150.

Is that ok?

everything is clear to me now
practically until now, I have always used the nac 62 connected directly to final (outpup pre - input Final) and at the same time I used the 5 pin snaic cable from the nac 62 to socket 4 Hicap.
I hope I have not done any damage.
Thanks for everything

If it all works when you plug it in correctly:

62 -> HiCap -> 150

then there's no damage and you're OK.

It should sound a bit better.
