Ipad Naim App does not have NDX listed when trying to set up the room

Under set up new product, NDX is not mentioned. Anyone know why this is please.? Thanks
I assume you have just got the NDX. When the NDX starts does it acquire an IP address? You can see what it’s up to on the small display. The default for a new product is to setup with a hardwired Ethernet. Your router should be able to tell you whether it has detected the NDX. If not and if not brand new it maybe the network option is set to Wi-fi. It will then need your Wi-fi key.
After this the problem may be in your network, and you will need to explain how it is wired.

Does it show up if you choose ^Find Rooms” ?
Are they on the same network?
Thank you all. It’s when the app is first installed and initial setup does not show the NDX as a choice to select. The NDX is being recognised, but not having the NDX as a choice to select in the app is a fault in the app. Naim should fix this app problem as it’s confusing. Thanks, Keith
Keith, what do you mean by it being recognised but not available as a choice?

Hi Keith
That implies it is not being discovered quickly enough. We do not have this problem. There may be an underlying network issue. Naim equipment needs a simple infrastructure that contains fully compliant equipment. If you network over your mains, your network is probably not compliant as well as creating SQ issues.
You need to provide more information, and should update your profile.

I actually don’t understand your description of the problem Keith.
Is your NDX capable of playing any iRadio or stream music from a NAS?
Do you have the latest firmware installed on your NDX?
Do you have the latest iOS and App version installed and is your iPad trully connected to the same network as your NDX?
I think I understand what is being described, but not what is happening & for sure nothing like a fix. I have to admit the finding rooms can be a bit clunky & as a beta tester I've changed apps a bit & seen this more than most; I suspect its a problem with one or other of the discovery services & there might be a bit of iOS memory confusion in there somewhere. My usual fix is to start over, that means clearing out both the app caches, deleting the app & finally clean out the iPad background memory & RAM; to do this double click on Home & swipe all the background screens up & away,, then hold Home & Power buttons down until the Apple logo appears, then let it start normally. Reinstall the app & see how it goes. Touch Find my Rooms line on the bottom of the unit models picture & it should go straight to NDX. Outside of that all I can suggest is a manual install.
I've just done all this & it see's I have an NDX & shows the icon meaning its discovery & model recognition is working.
I don't think there is a problem.
When first setting up the app there are 2 options i.e. to set up a new product (muso/qb and the new uniti range) and "Find my rooms" which leads to other naim streamers currently on the network including, presumably the OP's NDX. However, tapping on the streamer product still enables the product registration link.
Just seen Mike's post. As he suggests uninstalling and reinstalling the app looks like the solution.
I know Mike likes to go through a process of uninstalling everything and restarting the iPad from scratch and I can see some justification when you are beta testing, but it really should not be necessary for normal users (nor as a beta tester do I ever do it myself.)
The only thing you may have to do to sort out a lost room is quit the app and restart it. Clicking on the "find my rooms" link if the app doesn't do it all on its own is what you do next and the NDX will appear without having to be added. If it doesn't show up, it's a network issue not an app issue.

David,
I might be wrong but I don't think Keith's problem was that the app had lost the NDX room. Indeed, he says that the app recognised the NDX. From what I can gather, Keith was unhappy that the NDX was not listed among the "new products" which you can register via the app.
In fact none of the "legacy" streamers appear in the "new products" list but they can still be registered through the app and will appear as "rooms" once recognised by the network.

The only reason I do the delete/clear/reinstall is I was told by an IT cmpy owner, ex programmer including time working for Apple, is that some poorly designed/implemented apps have detritus & links that should but don’t get cleaned/removed & affect performance of the app. It works for me so I’m happy.
SJBABBEY, that is exactly right. The app should have the full set of devices to set up. It’s nothing to do with anything else. I can control the NDX from the app, but under device set up, there really should be the choice of all the types of device the app can control. Many thanks everyone, Keith

Yes I did get that is what you meant. But there is nothing to set up in the initial screens on NDX etc so it would be pointless having an icon that did nothing. You set up wifi (if you want to use it) and so on using the remote not the app.
I was just arguing with Mike a bit because deleting and reinstalling the app wouldn't have done what you wanted either!

I had a similar problem with my NDS which was resolved by making sure that Spotify was enabled on the actual device via the menu screen. This ensured that the "Bonjour" protocol was running so that the naim app could find the box. Hope this helps
