Using both outputs on a Stageline

Posted by: Terry Smith on 30 January 2018

I have recently upgraded my second system with a Uniti Atom and it now consists of the Atom , a Nait XS2 and a Stageline along with an upgraded  Rega P3 turntable and Devore Super 8 speakers. The Stageline  is currently connected to the Nait XS2 which is alos providing power. I suspect this will also provide the best SQ but out of curiosity I would like to hear how Vinyl sounds through the Atom. Am I right in thinking that I can use the second output on the Stageline to connect to the Atom if I get a 4pin Din to RCA and this will then give me the ability to switch between the two options of Atom or XS2

In theory, yes, not sure about in practice.  However, note that the Stageline is not designed to drive two sets of i/cs in parallel, so you will probably experience a performance loss and may possibly push it into instability.

I'm doing something similar- I have a stageline running from aux2 of a 282, except that one channel is out (not yet sure if this is an issue with the 282 or SL) so I'm using a 4-5pin din cable from the second stageline output to another input on the 282 and seems to work fine. Due to the issue above I  can't compare sound like for like with the direct aux2 config.

Hopefully a temporary set up as I will be getting the amp serviced this year and probably a separate psu for the stageline.

Tx Fueller , appreciate the feedback . Think I will just give it a try

In Fueller's configuration I'd imagine it possibly sets up a signal earth loop that would impair performance somewhat. I would advise some caution. And if something fails, you'll know why. I would get in touch with Someone like Steve Hopkins at Naim who could ask the right people whether it's something you can safely do - or not.
