Bristol Show - First Time
Posted by: Mort2k on 01 February 2018
Hello
I was wondering if anyone who has been to the show before has any advice on getting the most out of a single day visit / what to do to ensure not missing things that are important or a priority ?
Thanks in advance
Rob

No doubt you will soon be upgrading from your humble 272?
Therein lies the problem. Have 555ps. Get NDS or ND555. Need preamp. Don’t want six boxes. What to do. Nothing. Need 372 or 572. Naim won’t go there. Hmm.
It will be interesting to hear just how good the new box is?
One would think that the NDS would be hard to upstage.
The dealers will have been feeding back to Naim for some time that they or their customers are steering towards Chord and others for their front end. Ignore at your peril I would have thought.

You'd think so, but in reality the NDS was more of an optimised NDX. The architecture is effectively the same across the present ND range but with the usual Naim approach of more mechanical and electrical isolation and better analogue stages applied for the NDS version. As Simon mentions earlier in the thread, the new Uniti streaming architecture should be a major step forward so let's see what they have come up with when it's released for public view.

Agreed. I'm thinking about the new Chord DAC, but will hold off if Naim announces/updates their streaming lineup and it's priced within reason.

bad news: the eventbrite site updated the information few hours ago: naim statement /nd555 disappeared. I heard it on my topic » music matters nd555 ...» some hours ago and checked also. Naim is perhaps not ready for the show of the nd555 or an errror of the site.
Don’t worry so much. It will simply be that the release should not have been made public.
It can only be be that the ND 555 is coming at Bristol and that the Seattle site announced that they would have it as well before they were supposed to. Hopefully the ND 555 will actually be ready for production and listening to when it is presented unlike the Uniti range and Ovator S600. I can't see Naim getting a launch so wrong again so I think I will be on my way to Bristol but it would be nice if Naim confirmed for certain what will be in Bristol before the show especially since it is not really a secret anymore.

Likely this is the truth!
Indeed. Mind you that it took a while back then for the NDS to pass pre-serie status well across 2012 before we could put our hands on production runs.
Chag -
I can't make it to Bristol, but Seattle..... well that's easy. Can't wait to hear the configuration. I can't afford it regardless, but one can and should set their goals high!
Naim have new landmark product for Bristol show?
How exciting, even though most likely way out of my financial league I still get to hear a new Naim product at Bristol nevertheless, last time was Statement!

Frankly, I don't see it that way. In all likelihood, the Seattle dealer broke a confidentiality agreement and spilled the beans, not the US distributor, and there will be no ND555 at Bristol. I could be wrong.
I’m with AHT. I think this is all a misnomer. Only last week Connections was published - not a word on said streamer?
By the way I hope I’m wrong I think it’s great when Naim and their peers push at the boundaries.
From what I gather, quite a lot of the clientele at these shows tend to be quite elderly. I would therefore pace yourselves and know your limitations. Regular demos will allow you to sit down and rest. You may also hear music that is not prog rock and that may unsettle you. Furthermore, both genders may present so dignity at all times is the order of the day. Regular tea and a knowledge of the facilities is a must. Other than that, just go out there and enjoy yourself.
Their is a special area set aside for Zimmer frame storage and they have free Horlicks on tap..... and as previously mentioned the Harbeth room is perfect if any needs a nap at anytime...

Wenger, The Marriott Hotel have just confirmed that after last years success serving Horlicks and Rusks they will continue with these this year, however they will be served in the new Incontinence Bar located on the lower level.
