CD5XS with Chord Mojo

Hello all,

about one year ago there was an interesting thread about the Mojo in a main system. My question is related and apologies if it’s too basic.

I have a CD5XS and I realise the upgrade path is with a DAC. Now i don’t want to spend more money on this as this is not my main source (which is a N272/XPS DR), but since I have an unused Mojo at home I was considering trying it with the CD player. My questions are whether it makes sense (ie is the Mojo a better DAC than the CD5XS internal DAC), and which cable would you use to link up the CD player to the Mojo (Mojo to N272 there seems to be agreement on the Audioquest Sydney)?

Why don't you feed the digital output from the CD5XS into the 272 ?

The Mojo could be used - just use a BNC to 3.5mm Coax cable (Chord etc) to connect it to the CD5XS - it will sound 'different; to the internal DAC in the CD5XS. It seems a bit of a faff to use the Mojo in this situation (not forgetting the need to charge it etc...) when the 272 could be used for DAC duties.

And make sure to use Naim DC1 BNC to BNC digital cable to 272. ????
