Wilson Sasha Gambit

Posted by: zoot on 13 February 2018

Within the next two weeks I am switching away from active NBLs  and trying a gently used pair of Wilson Sasha's, powered with a Nap 500DR with 552, Linn LP12  , CD555 , NDS all with appropriate power sources DRed , some of the source connects are SLs. I'm excited and hoping for a very coherent, soundstage, color and dynamics ,something that suspends disbelief as the music makes the speakers dissapear.  I feel a bit apprehensive as I found there is no way to audition speakers without placing them in the home exactly were your old speakers reside  and start from there. Yes I've auditioned the sasha 2s   but found it hard to connect I could'nt really hear they were capable of, then heard the next speaker up the Alexia 2 and liked it much better. So why did I choose the Sashas , well for a lightly used well cared for pair  that is better sized for my room , the price was fair and its a good way to get into Wilson game without really spending dollars. Now I can experience the Wilson  sound at home and perhaps in a year  go for the Alexia 2s   .Who knows If this experiment doesn't work out I'll move back those old NBLs and maybe be able to buy two more 500s?  My  living room is 13'8" wide and 26" feet long, well furnished couches , large chairs ectc. However Ive employed bass busters in all corners along with wall deflecters. I do hope after this effort I get the next level my ears are asking for,.

The Sasha2 is Wilson's best speaker IMHO.
Truly remarkable. Hope you'll enjoy it.

Last year I heard the Sasha2 with ARC gear. The GSPre and GS150. Wow! That was awesome. I am sure Naim could be as good or better in a different way.

Actually it's Sasha version 1 . In many respects very similar to series 2.  The big change for myself is going from active to passive, without doubt a different thing. I've been listening to active setups for over thirty years, these Sasha's sound wonderful so I'm anticipating a lot of improvements over the NBLs, the technological innovations in addition to a highly moviated speaker designer indicates by all critics a new benchmark . It will be interesting for certain and it will be a fairly long term experiment in living with the sasha,s?Unless of course',,,,,,,,,,,,,

You will love the dynamic of Sasha and lively. I have NDS/555 DR, 552DR, 500DR all full loom SL with Sasha for few years now. I enjoy the combination. Recently demo Alexia 2, I like Alexia 2 and it will be a good step up from Sasha.

you will not disappointed. Speakers placement is critical for Wilson speakers. Few inches will make a big difference. Please make sure that you position Sasha correctly, once you get them in sweet spot, speaker will disappear with large sound stage. they will put a big smile on your face

I love my Yvette’s. Putting a 10 woofer in a smaller footprint is genius.
