I hope its worth it?

After much deliberation I have decided to order two Full Naim Fraims, base plus three shelves in Black.
Having spent sometime researching Racks and looking at other options, I have convinced myself that despite the considerable cost that it will be money well spent.......
I am very much hoping that I won’t be disappointed???????

wouldnt bother with plastic thingys- very hard to place perfectly and not so easy to remove and they leave some sticky material on the glass that is a pia to remove.
U will love Fraim- great looking and nice upgrade to sound
I am also a Focal fan.... 1038be’s
david
Fraim is Black shelves, Black uprights,
I’m certainly looking forward to the build.
ps I used to have the 1028be’s before trading up to the Sopra’s
The plastic retaining rings can most easily be applied by turning the glass over and using the position of the balls to identify the ideal position. This is better than trying to use the paper template which is not precise enough.
BTW black on black is top choice IMHO!
Take your time and have fun doing the build Wenger, oh and don't forget this:
Which reminds me, the next time I rebuild my Fraim stacks I should take a few pictures to add to the guide.

Thanks for the tip, all advice very much appreciated

Thanks Richard,
Yes, I have read through the How to build Fraim a few times, Pictures would certainly be a good addition to your excellent write up.
Unfortunately with work commitments and being away the build is going to have to wait until next weekend....
Is it worth it? Absolutely: everything shifts upwards, qualitatively. Silly question But ypu have reminded me that The Asgaardian dust has need of removal from mine own stack.
Hi Wenger, I was just looking at the photo on your profile, is your current rack Apollo? That is what I currently have and am pondering on racks, so will be great to hear your findings.....when your bleeding work commitments get out of they way! Congratulations.

Yes, I do have two grandchildren to consider, so probably best to be safe
And if you are like me your put the protection over the speaker cones! Look forward to hearing more (pun intended)!

Yes the current rack is Apollo, I have tweaked it with some wood panels and isolation pods.
It was purchased a number of years ago from a hi-if dealer that was closing down.
After a lot of research and considering different options, I decided my Black boxes needed a much better Rack, so I decided to bite the bullet and go for the full fraim.
Im looking forward to finding out if the cost is going to be justified??

Fortunately I have a separate listening room so less of an issue but I usually keep the protective panels on just in case..

Clive, Thanks for the tip.
Just to be certain, is this correct?
1. turn the glass upside down
2. position It
3. set the plastic retaining rings on the glass over each bearing.
The glass is then flipped over and put on the bearings.
This does require the front edge of the glass to be parallel to the front edge of the shelf.
Is it necessary to periodically check the retaining rings do not touch the ball bearings?

Yes that’s right. That assumes, of course, that you do the dong/donk test to determine which is the right way up for the glass. Regarding the glass being parallel to the front of the shelf, I have mine level with the front. It shouldn’t be necessary to check the alignment so long as you don’t knock the stack. It should remain in the right place. FWIW I only have the retaining rings on two shelves (for the NDS and the LP12) - eight of my Fraim shelves were purchased before the rings were introduced.

That's one big box of lego. Christmas Day might run into Boxing Day building it all. Take your time and enjoy it.
Is that custom built CD storage in the pic?

Seven likes to a picture of Fraim boxes! Didn't your moms and your parsons tell you that you can become blind doing that?

One box has been opened to be fair...
Am very envious, what a great Sunday afternoon pastime.
I've been looking at Fraim for a future upgrade, and possibly black/black though this seems something that is quite rare. I wonder if you'd be happy to share pictures of the results of yours, as personally I think its a stunning look, let alone the possible performance benefits this upgrade may bring?
CT Very happy to share some photos once constructed.
The delivery coincided with me being away for a week, so unfortunately no fraim build until next weekend.
I am very much hoping to provide some very positive feedback.
Well today is the day I was hoping to build the 2 stacks of fraim?
I have just opened the first set of Boxes and the Base level is in Black but the other levels are in Maple, the second set of Boxes I have a Base in Maple and the other levels in Black.
Unbeliveable !!!!!!!!!!!
Gutted Wenger!
We can still build the black rack today if you want??
Have fun building.
April fool??
