I hope its worth it?

After much deliberation I have decided to order two Full Naim Fraims, base plus three shelves in Black.
Having spent sometime researching Racks and looking at other options, I have convinced myself that despite the considerable cost that it will be money well spent.......
I am very much hoping that I won’t be disappointed???????

10 pages of light hearted comments about balls, playing music on glass, and hidden amongst them one post from wenger telling us what how it performs.
The balls and glass need to be squeaky clean. The glass in particular needs to be free of residues/particulates/contaminates and be polished to a streak free and squeaky clean shine before the ding donging commences.
The glass shelves should also be handled with lint free gloves to prevent unwanted fingertips/marks. The balls should 'always' touch the surface of the glass because there are only three balls in contact with the 'centred' glass.
Clean balls and glass ding: dirty balls and glass dong. Go with the ding that rings with a dong.
Said fraim is due to arrive Wednesday next week.
which just so happens to be the worst timing as I have some major league work commitments and then a planned holiday, so will not be able to put together for best part of two weeks....

Tricky to evaluate too as the hifi always sounds better after a holiday.

May have to re-acclimatise to the hifi before making the change...
Those that live in the northern hemisphere should squeak their balls clockwise and then anticlockwise. For those in the southern hemisphere it is anticlockwise followed by clockwise. Those at the equator may not need to squeak their balls. At the extreme poles more squeaking is often unavoidable.

??? As far as I can tell hifi sounds the same whenever I listen (ignoring when I have a bad cold)

At the extreme poles they may need defrosting....
Goodness, Wenger I really do hope it is worth it. The suspense is killing me!
Seriously, I feel it is well worth investing in a full fat Fraim, so don't fret during your holiday.
Looking forward to your feedback.

Yes, will certainly provide some feedback, and a picture or two.
I tend to judge most upgrades by ‘ does it make me smile ‘ ..... so hopefully that will be the case
Don,t forget like I did turning everything off, building the Fraim, then repositioning the boxes to their new home let’s them go off the “boil” I was taken by surprise next day on one track as the music opened up.......let it warm up with the new Fraim before judging.

Yes, I will give it a few days and hopefully I will be hugely relieved...
Fraim has finally arrived

Unfortunately due to work commitments and then away for a week.... it’s going to have to wait for another 10 days or so.... worst timing ever as they say
I just have enough time before going back to work to look in one box....
Unless you absolutely need to use them don't stick the plastic rings to the glass, it will only complicate things.
Have to disagree, I cannot see them from any distance of a metre or so and they stop the glass and contents flying off the balls. Try yourself how easy it is for 10 kg of amp and glass to fall off the ball. It’s how they moved those stones to Stonehenge. But, best try and make your own mind up.
I guess if there is a risk of children touching any of the equipment then best to use them even if only for piece of mind.

Yes, I do have two grandchildren to consider, so probably best to be safe
They are easily removed later if you don,t want them.....HG sticker remover works fine. I bought some of my Fraim second hand and it’s immaculate apart from one edge has a small sliver of glass missing. At the time I thought how clumsy of the previous owner until while fitting a Burndy the amp propelled off of the balls at speed, luckily no damage.

Then you do have to use them.

Wow. Hope you've got a big loft to store all those boxes, Wenger.
PS I do love the look of those Sopras in black

I may be biased but I absolutely love my Sopra’s, and I’m very much looking forward to unpacking all those boxes, fortunately plenty of room in the loft
Fraim color? Uprights color?
wouldnt bother with plastic thingys- very hard to place perfectly and not so easy to remove and they leave some sticky material on the glass that is a pia to remove.
U will love Fraim- great looking and nice upgrade to sound
I am also a Focal fan.... 1038be’s
