Is the Supercap 2 a let down for active Statements?

Posted by: Consciousmess on 16 February 2018

Just pondering my next upgrade...

Seriously though, that must be a thought on well-heeled eyes and in Naim R&D?

I’m guessing I’m not alone in not understanding the question...

Active Statements?

Posted on: 17 February 2018 by Karl

WTF ?

Posted on: 17 February 2018 by David Hendon

Presumably the opposite of Passive Statements, which perhaps is Statements not switched on yet, or maybe still in their transportation cases....

Posted on: 17 February 2018 by Klout10

Do you mean active with 2x Statement power amps or what?

Posted on: 17 February 2018 by Ravenswood10

Either which way a silly post....

As the Statement is supposed to be the very best that is possible, money no object, then its power supply (internal, but spacially separated) which is a part of it must also be, so no external power supply can improve it, and any attempt like Supercap would be an inevitable downgrade. With Statement there is and can be no improvement (until major technological advances in maybe a decade or two?). That is, no upgrades. Period. You spend your huge sum of money and never need worry again, and can enjoy the music, perefect forever more. It is clearly not for serial upgraders and tweakers, but for people who simply want to sit back and listen.

However, as yet there is no Statement source (not even the imminent ND555 which is clearly stated to be 500 level), nor are there Statement speakers - and of course with a Statement Snaxo that could men bi- tri- or even quad- Statementamping... (come on Naim, there must be a market here!)

I wonder if the question is about the visuals. So if one were to go active statement with a NAC S1 and 4 or 6 NAP S1s, then the amp would have a SNAXO and Supercap in Classic black and green, you'd have a visual clash.

Posted on: 17 February 2018 by The Strat (Fender)

Okay - seriously 5 or 6 Statement amps plus Snaxos and Supercaps, ND555 +2 555 PSUs and of course Turntable plus PSU + Superline/Supercap.

I’d like to hear it

Posted on: 17 February 2018 by Consciousmess

Well folk here dream of the Statement, so it’s improvement would be 3 active Statements with a Snaxo powered by a Supercap 2.  (Money not an object.) There’s your weak link, the Snaxo and the Supercap 2.

Aside from the Silverline being outshone by cables even more pure - costing twice the price, which I’ve seen but won’t post link.

So conclusion - Naim either don’t wish for oligarchs to use their products or the Statement per se is the best and speakers must conform to single amping.

But pointless IMHO without Statement level speakers. So what speakers might qualify? Ptpresumably from Naim stable it would have to be Focal Grande Utopia, but plenty of other possible contenders: PMC BB5XBD, ATC EL150, Kef Muon, Tannoy Westminster Royal, Sonus Faber Stradivari ...and loads more I haven’t thought of.

Of course, the source first brigade will disagee, saying Kans will do...

I’m not quite sure I see the point. So assume a super-source, say Vertere RG-1, into Statement S1. Downstream in the Statement space you can go passive S1, so 2 mono amps, into any stereo speakers, which I’m sure will sound amazing with your personal taste in top end speakers. Or you can choose speakers that can go active with Naim, I think today Kudos Titans, and take SNAXO Supercap between the NSC S1 and 4 or 6 NAP S1s, that will also be amazing.

Yes, the SNAXO will not be Statement, but it isn’t necessarily a limiting factor, active adds a lot from what I remember from olive systems, so they could still sell an active Statement rig.

I think I’ve missed  your point again, sorry.

All you need is a Nait 2, a not too large room, efficient speakers and some source.

This thread reminds me of the time I asked if anybody had yet tried running an NDS/555/555 through another NDS/555/555, to isolate the functions.  To date, no reports have I seen.

Agreed.  The Nait2 crushes the Statement in terms of musicality.  That is the dirty little secret in Salisbury.

I think naim should work on an electrostatic statement, active capable like the FL-1 but call it FL-S1.

In the Realm of Naim, take your pick:

 Statement ~180K power Amps

Vs

Active S1 Pre/500s ~ 3 way Speakers

90K power Amps

Would like to A-B

Just Dreaming, Of Course!

And my Conscience is a mess!

Enjoy your Music!
