Agree, but a film with several belabored scenes and overall protracted for editing, especially when we all knew the eventual outcome. At 2-hours 37-minutes, something closer to the 2-hour mark may have had a more gripping impact. Good as it was in the cinema, I've never been inclined to sit through it again at home.

Well acted and well told no doubt. I found it a bit like Bigilows earlier Hurt Locker, in so much as I can't really say I found it enjoyable at the time but it kind of lingered in the memory afterwards.

Was it just an implausible coincidence that the main protagonist just happened to be in London at the same time as the attacks there, or did I miss the set-up for that?

I enjoyed it and thought it had  more substance than the Hurt Locker.  I thought it was going to get into moralising side of things e.g. the justification for the US carrying out assassination of someone in another country, but instead concentrated on the detective and intelligence challenges and story which I found interesting.  

Does anybody know the reason why it was called Zero Dark Thirty?

In American vernacular refers to the wee hours of the morning, while still pitch black, and before critters are stirring. From that perspective makes sense for timing of the attack on Bin Laden's compound.

"Hey, wanna go fishing tomorrow morning?"

"Sure, when you thinking of heading out?"

"Zero dark thirty."

"Do we really need to get up that early?"

Yes. I thought it was in the manner of a Frederick Forsyth novel, no moralising but does ask questions of the audience; slippery slopes.

M
