Unitiserve & Uniti 2 connection

Posted by: gsr on 16 February 2018

Hi all,

I've had a Unitiserve and a Uniti 2 for a few weeks now and there's been a couple of occasions where it seems the system is buffering whilst playing via UPnP. Music stops for a couple of seconds then resumes.

The Unitiserve is connected to the router via an Ethernet cable but the Uniti 2 is connected to the network via wireless. Will connecting the Uniti 2 via Ethernet to the router solve this issue.

The Uniti 2 is about 15ft from the router and Unitiserve.

Thanks

It all depends on your wifi network but a simple guide is that the first thing to try if you are getting problems is to use an Ethernet cable to connect your Uniti 2 to your router. You can just drape it across the floor to try. They don't cost much on eBay.

you could add a switch to provide the Ethernet feed to the Unitiserve and Uniti2 but that shouldn't be necessary.

best

Almost certainly, yes. If you really can't manage it, there are other workaround solutions which can help, but for minimal cost, a basic Cat5e cable is the best option.

(OK, maybe the second best option - for a mere £3800, I'm told that a Chord Music streaming cable will blow Cat5e out of the water, but try the Cat5e first;-)

Thanks guys.

Going to the Hifi show at Bristol next weekend so see what deal I can get if any, on Chord or Meicord cables.
