UK Earthquake

Posted by: Karl on 17 February 2018

I was reading the Forum on my iPad this afternoon at 14.33 and my chair started to vibrate as if the recliner was working by itself, turns out that I survived an earthquake.

Any body else manage to escape ?

I’ve just been reading some of the earthquake reports, it was noted in South Wales down to Cornwall. I live in Somerset , but I didn’t notice anything .

I live between Bristol and Bath and was using my iMac at the time I noticed the screen started to vibrate and wobble and then a few moments later the whole house started to shake, a bit worrying as you had no idea what was happening.

Sounds rather unpleasant to say the least... it’s the not knowing that’s disconcerting I would imagine

But that is a serious point, people near the epicentre may well need to redress their Burndies, and even relevel their Fraims, won’t people think of the Naim owners?

I live on the end of the Cotswold series, and the limestone here overlies a bentonite deposit so I really felt it

Lots of things rattled and the whole house swayed back and forth, despite having walls 600mm to 1.5m thick and being built into the hillside directly attached to the bedrock.  It was severe enough that I immediately knew it was an earthquake, nothing else could be that powerful for that length of time.

Fortunately I have no structural damage (or at least none that I've found yet!).

I believe Brexit negotiations were behind those plate tectonic movements.

I live in North Somerset and my wife and I never noticed anything different - probably because we were driving at the time and the local roads make a good earthquake simulator at any time.

As Oxfam are not involved in the international scene at the moment you might get the Oxfam circus into town to help clear up the mess and then you can look forward to a population increase next November December.
