MQA has a very uncertain future,  it's been waiting for the start gun for a few years now,  but who is in a rush to take it - & the licence - & commit their company too it.

Your next step up the ladder into the world of real HD audio is as Adam says.

I’m very sceptical about MQA - it just appears to me it’s another ploy to lock consumers into a lesser format.

If it sounds so amazing why are you asking advice on where to go? Nowhere would be my advice read the network tweaks thread to see the lenghths people have to go to to get streamed music sounding amazing.

If it works don't change it. I am beginning to wish I hadn't changed to the Atom , my old setup was more complex to use but it worked all the time. Not sure the increase in SQ was worth all this hassle I am having.

Sonos into a DAC would bring benefits IMHO.
A better streamer than the Sonos is another option.
I switched from a Sonos to a Naim streamer, as there was a significant improvement to my ears.

I used to run Sonos Deezer (and other services) and I took the optical out from the Sonos into my Naim DAC and it was quite respectable... and of course the Sonos can play local UPnP DLNA media servers as well. I did find, not surprisingly,  the Naim streaming transport, in this case the NDX, provided a better performance into the Naim DAC, no doubt because of the more precise nature of the transport clock and less digital clocking noise products... as well as being able to play more formats such as hidef and DSD, but the Sonos transport for basic media was quite respectable. BTW I found Sonos -> Hugo -> Naim NAC really rather good... but again using a Naim transport takes the enjoyment to another level...

Simon, I'd like a little more info, I am running the NAC 272 into the S1, but I am struggling to get Hi-Res streaming working using Tidal and MQA, so just today I gave Deezer HIFi a shot, like you, the only way to get it working was via Sonos to my NAC 272, but this doesn't allow me to take advantage of higher quality file format (unless I am mistaken).  I have my HiRes files on my server and us UPnP which is great but my collection is limited. So I am looking for options.  I downloaded some tunes from Deezer to my phone then used to Sonos.  Any advice you can give to get the best possible streaming would be wonderful.

Thanks in advance!
