external PS on NAC-272

When one uses an external PS for 272 ie. 555PS with a single Burndy,is the PS supplying the digital streamer or the analogue pre-amp or both. I ask because if I get a new streamer and use the 555PS for that, can I use the pre-amp section of the 272 as is. Will it be essentially the same preamp as I'm using now.

If you put an external PSU on a 272, you remove the 272 power cord completely as it takes all it’s power from the XPS or 555.

There is a noticeable improvement when adding an xpsdr to the N272

But if you are thinking of buying new..your money might be better spent on bare separates (Imho) as the xpsdr alone does not make a big enough value for money improvement..

XP5xs although discontinued is what I was on my 272 and this gave a nice lift in performance for not a massive outlay in cost compared to the XPS.
