Upgraded 250DR is on its way

Posted by: achique99 on 05 March 2018

Hi all,

I am getting a NAP 250 DR which is expected to reach me either by this week or next week to replace NAP 155XS in my active system paired with NAP 200. Would  like to have your best suggestion which rack the power amp should be placed at. Should I place both the power amp in the middle rack below the Snaxo and 282? Or remains where they are now. With the current setup, there is only 1 empty shelf in the middle rack between the crossover and Napsc (please ignore the 4 empty tables as I illustrates below).

Later, the 250DR will be powering the HF tweeter while the 200 for the LF woofer. Also to add that, FCXS is powering both stageline and CDP while, 2 HCDRs are powering Snaxo and 282 respectively. I am also thinking to place the stageline next to the Snaxo as to shorten the distance and to ease the cable connection between the two equipment as they are nearly 1 meter apart now.

Am I following the brain and brawn concept here? Would love to hear your comments and benefit guys. Thank you.

Cheers, Nasa

not an answer to your question i guess but unless you really like or need an active system,
you could simplify the racks all together.
delete the Snaxo, the 200 and the flatcap and with the proceeds maybe supercar the 282.
1 HCDR to the StageLine and the other to the 5xs.

Not sure he can afford a supercar with the proceeds..maybe a smart car ??

As an active officiando myself I’d say there’s not too much wrong with that layout. The stageline looks to be about as far away from transformers as it can be and that’s definitely a good thing. Enjoy the 250DR. You’ll be wanting a second one soon enough.

My dealer has suggested that power amps go on the lowest rack's, not sure if that's for sound, stability or both!

Remember the upgraded 250dr takes around 3-4 weeks to come on song. When first run mine sounded really quite odd.....improving hugely within around 5 days. Also would have thought 250dr would be better on low frequency??? Put at bottom of rack ......... and save up for some super lumina speaker cables.....

LOL of course I cant afford a Supercar, but a Supercap there is a possibility for the next few years.

This 250 amp is heavier than the other black boxes and it will be placed at the lowest rack and once funds are available a 2nd 250DR would be good.

Richieroo, I am working during the weekdays and only run my system more than 2 hours during the weekend. I can imagine the burning period would be more than a month or two!!! Thanks for the info! LOL. An SL speaker cable is out of my reach as to replace 4 X 5m NACA5. Active is crazy, but yeah at anytime I can return back to passive but only if my ears allowed me to do so.

Cheers!

Just received the 250.2DR yesterday at work. Reached home, I put 200 for the low frequency and 250 for the high. I am amazed how they perform last night, obviusly the PRAT is so obvious and fast. More dynamic and better bass control. Well, as what you have said, I think I need another 250!!!
