hey all, would like to pick your minds about this topic.
i am wondering if i can buy the tibia plus 12 from avoptions and upgrade the connectors at both ends - with say furutech fi-11.
in this some questions :
1. i have read on multiple posts on this forum that non-plated connectors (preferably copper?) are the best. but i see that the naim powerline european (shucko?) plug uses rhodium connectors. what are your views on this?
2. though avoptions is using wattgate male connector still they dont seem to be using its matching iec plug. is there some dynamic with the naim stock iec plug which makes it preferable to after market iec plugs?
3. also i can see multiple posts on this forum viewing belden cables like 83803 and 19364 favorably - including one by S-in-S. would this be a better option?
4. in relation to point 3, there is a cable which apparently combines the best of belden 83303 and 19364 - and sold for example as lava caldera. anybody tried this?
5. and regarding plugs, i see favorable views on companies like oyaide and iego. anybody using these? any comparison with furutech?
appreciate the insights.

I picked up a couple spare tibia cords from my dealer to experiment with in the past. My plain was to put the Wattgate ends on (same as Naim use in North America for the Powerline) as a small upgrade. I only got around to modifying one of the cords, put it on my 250DR. It been on for sometime now (at least a year), my thoughts were if it made any difference it was very small. I have recently picked up a Powerline so I put that on the 250DR & the modded tibia on the HiCAP DR. This seems to have made a noticeable change, there seems to be improvements in details/realism as well as deeper bass that is tighter at the same time. If you want to DIY an AV options style cord, it can be done for cheap but I probably wouldn't spend what AV options want for their Cryo treated version, personally I would save up for Powerlines instead.
As for rhodium, I haven't tried it on my Naim gear but I have played with cords on my non Naim gear & used some different ends. From my experiments I feel the ends have a pretty major impact on the sound. I tried the Rhodium, it brought out lots of additional details but I found it quickly fatiguing & not to my liking. In general gold plated Furutech ends are what I liked best. Also note, if your going to do it get their ends that are copper base metal (not the phosphor bronze). The copper base ones are better sounding & for the IEC end, get their cheaper 15 series as they are actually better sounding then the more expensive 11 series. If you step up to the 28 series or above, they also use copper base metal.

I've terminated both a Wiremold L10320 powerstrip and a standard tibia power cable with Wattgate 5266i plugs. I can't honestly attest to an absolute improvement in either, and doubt I could discriminate between the modified versus standard plugs in a blind test. At the same time, I'm confident there was no negative effect in SQ. The greatest benefit in re-terminating the cords was to cut down their length to the minimum required in my system. Makes cable management much easier, esp for the powerstrip which sits only about 18 inches from the outlet.
I use a Furutech GTX-D Rhodium wall socket and that made a noticeable alteration in SQ versus my original domestic socket. Tighter and crisper overall with a cleaner mid range. Works as an improvement for me but I'd readily admit someone else might not like it in their system. There are no guarantees with tweaks, just a matter of trial and error. I'd be remiss to recommend rhodium based on my single trial with an alternate wall socket.

I had powerlines on both power and pre psu and also on a Naim streamer when I owned one. I then reverted back to a two tail Graham’s Hydra and a stock Naim on my Napsc and the difference if any was to small for me to hear.
I would spend your money elsewhere a dedicated mains if possible would be whereI would spend my money in that area.
I spent £550 on two used power lines and £700 upgrading my 202 to a 282 my point is there are lots better places to spend your hard earned. However if you have your “end game” system and want to fine tune then that is a different story.

i got a tibia12plus from avoptions. just put it on today - i think it will take time to break in before i can compare it with the stock cable - if i can really hear any audible difference at all.
might try the take five belden 19364 cable for my other unitiqute to just check out a different option.
