4G to the moon?

Nokia and Vodafone have plans to establish a 4G network on the moon. I suppose I'll be able to call home soon.

I wish I could even get 3G at home...

Calling is not really working, caused by latency. But you can dictate which stuff we need to send to you.

I'm wondering whether Vodafone and Nokia will actually make any returns on their investments? I would imagine that the final bill could run into the billions. What incentives could they have for being the first to network-tise the moon (space tourism)? The installation requires the use of Nokia's space grade masks and Vodafone's 4G network (chosen in preference to 5G because, although the technology is not as state-of-art, it is considered to be more stable and more likely to work from the lunar surface). This should enable the transfer of high definition streaming from the lunar landscape back to earth. Could Naim possibly have some involvement? A Statement level streamer beamed from the surface of the moon? The whole endeavour rests upon a radically innovative approach to the development of a mobile network infrastructure that is purported to weigh less than a bag of sugar.

Source: Reuters (Naim involvement is mere speculation).
