Problem with N-serve app

Posted by: karma737 on 04 March 2018

Hope this is the right forum for this question.  I recently updated the firmware on my Unitiserve to 1.7b.  I am using the n-serve app on my MacBook Air, version 1.4.  I thought I might also need to update the app but when I look in the app store that is the latest version for Mac users.  The app works fine to play my music but when I go to the Maintenance option and choose "Backup Scheduler" the screen won't display properly.  It shows the outline of the scheduler but most of the field is empty and often shows whatever the previous screen was (even my desktop may show through the scheduler.  The scheduler is the only screen with this problem so I can't check my backup log.  It's not a big deal but something seems wrong with the app.  I deleted it and downloaded it again from the app store and same problem.  Interestingly, I have the exact same problem when I use my wife's MacBook so it doesn't seem to be a problem with my computer.  Any thoughts.  Are others having problems with the app on Mac after upgrading firmware?

I've noticed this issue where the 'screen' of the N-Serve app becomes a window through which you can see the desktop behind it. I think it coincided with a recent OSX update, as I never noticed it before that. For me, it has been an issue in the Library screen as well as some of the maintenance screens, and is intermittent.

Oh crap. Similar problem here with nServe on the Mac. Seems to have coincided with the upgrade to High Sierra.

I "think" I upgraded to High Sierra some months ago and didn't have such a problem. However, I'm away until the end of the month so can't positively check... I hope I'm not going to have issues on my return home...!!!

This has happened to me a couple of times but seems OK now.

Interesting to find that I am not the only one with this problem.  I contacted tech support (Phil Harris) who asked me to send him screen shots of the problem.  Seemed as if he hadn't heard about it from anyone.  I hadn't thought that the problem might be between High Sierra and the n-Serve app but that would make sense since I don't use the app much on my laptop.  Mostly use an iPhone to control the Unitiserve.  Is there someone at Naim who would be interested in knowing about this and possibly working on a fix (or letting users know what to do about it)?

The Naim guys don't routinely read the forum posts although Phil sometimes does, but as you are already in contact with him, that is the route that one of the developers might be asked to look at it.
