telegartner limited japan switch gold: 4100 eur
Posted by: French Rooster on 05 March 2018
I found on the excellent high fidelity poland magazine the review for a 4100 eur ethernet switch. I am sure a lot will laugh, for myself i am surprised to find a such expensive switch. The persons who have technical knowledge in lan products will certainly look what the hell this switch is about. I am curious to discover their commentaries.
yes i was musing on the money making perspective - its almost worth setting up an ebay shop for...
Funnily enough I had a marketing email from Amplicon pop into my inbox this morning with details of the new Belden switch range.
If you're looking to add a bit of industrial chic to your home network. need the mechanical integrity of the M12 connector or your lounge is a harsh environmental area, then these start at a more reasonable £416...

These apparently are waterproof, so when you have a serious flood at least your network is OK......so much easier to then call Phil and complain about the App not finding rooms etc

and as Gazza has said - if your lounge has a tendency to flood - these could be the ticket....
I think we could start a trend for shabby chick ethernet - going back in time we had a wonderful range of ethernet products
Those were the days.....

It is sold by Telegartner Japan as being an "audio" product.
PS. I'm not commenting on it any further than "its there on ht tp://w ww.teleg aertner.c o.jp"
PPS. There is an identical *looking* "Industrial L2 5 port switch"
i am curious to know why it costs 4000 dollars and what is advanced in it. But i have no technical knowledge to ....
● a completely shielded circle connector (M12 X-coded) that cuts external noise - Makes sense, depends on how the rest of network is configured regarding shielding and grounding though. Could cause yourself more issues than you are trying to solve using shielded cables.
● anti-vibration compliant to a strict norm for railway systems (EN50155) - Also makes sense - see my post further back up the thread about ruggedisation.
● minimised internal noise level of the switching hub based on the state-of-the-art circuit diagram for high-tech industry - Not really sure what this is trying to say. Has this actually been purposely designed or is this just marketing.
● offering high performance and connectivity in combnation with the attached Cat.7A / Channel FA patch cables - Probably
Whether this all adds up to a $4100 upgrade is debatable It's just been designed to work in a harsher than usual enviroment. You'd probably achieve the same result with a decent switch like the Cisco item often recommended here and making sure you are using good quality Ethernet cables.

I suspect the reason it costs 4000 dollars is nothing to do with technology.......

And of course shielded or non shielded certified Cat5e is all that is required for our streamers...’unfortunately’ Cat5e is rather cheap and so some feel compelled to buy unnecessarily expensive cables.. some of which are not even TIA/EIA compliant..

Yep - we live in strange times. Better get that Ebay shop going...
thanks for your responses. I was just curious, and i will never be tempted to buy it. I have the cisco 2960 and look no for change. But it is the first time i see so costly switch....
