SuperNait2 to NAC 282 - NAP 200

Posted by: Iver van de Zand on 07 March 2018

Yesterday I traded my SuperNait2 for an almost new NAC282 - NAPSC - NAP 200Dr set up, accompanied by my existing HiCapDr and NDX. Another nice step in sound quality that I immediately can notice. There is more detail in the sound and instruments are better defined, I would say. In general the refinement grows and one can hear and feel there is just a better amp at work now.

Given the slightly higher power rating of the SN2 towards the NAP200Dr, I expected that I had to raise the volume slightly, but that is not the case. The same punch of the 200. I think that the Kanta's are a relative easy load to amplifiers.

From all the recent upgrades I did, replacing the Naim Allae's with the Focal Kanta 2 by far made the biggest impression to me. They absolutely sound wonderful with so much authority and body, while completely "disappearing". I like them a lot. The upgrade from SN2 to 282/200 is a good one, but more subtle. On the other hand I start understanding that upgrades on this level are smaller yet every time significant enough to justify the investment, and I appreciate that.

Surely someone will tell you, you will need Sauperlumina full loom and at least a 300 plus fraim shelves

Congrats

Congratulations, Iver.  I'm sure your Kanta 2s will reward you with an even better performance.

congrats - but the impact of an XPSDR on NDX or Superlumina speaker cables is not to be underestimated

A more powerful amp does not give you more volume if it provides the same gain - a common misunderstanding.

Great configuration that Iver.  I loved my 282 with the 200.

always difficult to describe changes in the sound (especially if English is not one's mother-tongue), but what I mean with "more refinement" is probably the following: I am now playing Milt Jackson's "Wizard of the Vibes". A difference between the 282/200 combo versus the SN2 is that I now very clearly can imagine room size and acoustics where the band is playing. I can "read" the room-size and it's a relatively cramped stage, with quite some up-and-down echo's. Apart from that, the 282/200 continue to deliver that highly musical touch to everything; mature, like they are the bosses of my living-room. Different to the SN2, is that the 282/200 seems more pleasant at lower volume levels.

Very impressive and it adds a lot to the listening-experience. I am very happy to have this sound quality

I think that is a nice upgrade Iver. And down the line if you ever wanted to go one step further a 250-DR is a nice step that wouldn't be too overly costly with the 200 to trade or sell.

And good to see you on here again!

Nothing wrong with that description, Iver. Good stuff.

Congratulations. I understand what you mean about the speakers ‘disappearing’ and the music being the ‘boss’ - whether it’s music from a film, internet radio or a downloads , we simply cannot ignite it - enjoy :-)

Congratulations, I’m also a very happy owner of NDX-282-200 and a previous Supernait owner. Intesting you describe the upgrade as ‘nice’ and ‘more subtle’, for me it feels like a big jump in quality, and probably should be for the price difference. Anyway sounds like you’re in a good place with the system so enjoy the music!

Did you trade it in at iEar in Tilburg? Ive been looking for that SN2 unit, since it came on the market earlier this week.
