naim album download not on unitserve
Posted by: French Rooster on 07 March 2018
hello,
i downloaded an album on the naim site. The download to install appears on my mail. The download is done, via wav . It is on the form of zip file. It is not present on my music folder on my pc, windows 7. I sent the zip file to my unitserve, but no album seen....How to do? thanks
You would need to unzip the file using the computer before you can use it on the Unitiserve.

how to unzip? sorry, not very computer specialist. select the zip folder then click on right.....?
Normally in Windows, if you click on a zip file, windows asks you whether you want it to extract the files from the archive (zip). You confirm you do want and it does it, almost instantly. Then you can copy the extracted files to a folder suitably named in the downloads folder of your Unitiserve. It can take quite a while for the US to scan the new files and enter them into the index.
If that happens to you, and you can see them in your downloads folder with Windows Explorer but the Naim app doesn't see them, come back here and someone will explain how to force a rescan.

it asked me nothing i think, but i will try again. I am not at home now. I will try to extract the file, thanks David
If clicking once doesn't work, double click it! It's a while since I did this myself. So that's double click, not right click....

I only use Macs so I’m not the best person to help with PC stuff. Hopefully David’s advice will get you there.
i succeeded finally, not so easy, strange from naim not to propose some friendly download service...

I think the problem is that every supplier of HD downloads has a different downloaded and a different strategy, so it's impossible for Naim to give definitive advice on what to do that will work in every case. But now you have done it once, you will probably find it's easy in future.

It sounds from your description of zip files etc that the download came from Qobuz; probably the least user friendly of the larger vendors. I find that I invariably need to do something extra such a metadata editing with them & rarely with others - some of their classical metadata is unbelievably bad. Try something from HighResAudio or HDTracks to see how it should work, then perhaps that will help unconfuse your learning curve with downloading.
If I read the OP correctly, his download was from Naim.
A very good point Chris. And a reminder to me to re-read the thread before posting!

Whoops whatever, HRA & HDT do a better user friendly job of it. I must say however that last time I downloaded a Naim I recall it was a bit of a PITA, & I don't remember it being so before (???) good job I'd done my training on how to sort out Qobuz.

generally i use qobuz, highrez audio, tidal or hdtracks, without problem. But yesterday i wanted for the first time to download an album from naim label: Harry Jay Steel, original good album. I didn’t know that i had to extract the files from the zip files....but now is ok.
