Naim 72 Boards. Red or yellow..which?

Posted by: mikeybaby on 07 March 2018

Hey guys.  The 72 I have is an early  1989 build. It came with red capped boards. I also have an old 32 that has amber/yellow caps. Which boards should I use in my 72? I heard the reds are older but they have higher numbers ie. 324/7 ..The yellow 324s say 324/4.

Dumb question I see.

I'm assuming the small tantalum caps - Yellows were used before the reds (before being used again late 90's) so your board numbering is correct. I'd stick with the boards you have in the 72.

My year 2000 nac72 [left] serviced in 2010 by Darren at Class A Sheffield.

meanwhile my 1991 nac72 [right] remains with original reds [...albeit with phono boards serviced in 2010 transferred over]

The red ones will be tired by now and far from sounding at their best.
