HDX software update / internet radio

The first version did throw up some problems but I've had the latest update for a few days and have not managed to find anything wrong yet.

I'm on the third Beta and not experiencing any issues. It's all good. However, if any testers encounter issues of any kind - not necessarily connected to Internet Radio, investigations ensue and more code is written. It won't go live until it's issue free for all testers. It's not for me to say when this will be but I can say that it will be worth the wait.

Can someone please let me know how to go about downloading and installing the new software?

You cannot. A few forum members are Beta testing it. It will be realeased to all when the bugs are fixed.
Hi All,
I'm just wondering, what the "internet radio" entails, is it limited to the proprietary Naim radio or we could access Pandora and the like?
You can browse a list of stations (too many to count) on the interface from all over the world, and add others via the vTuner page. I'm not familiar with Pandora but maybe a squint at the vTuner website will tell you if it is available.

Cool! That's what I thought. Thanks for clarifying.
Hopefully full release next week, well worth the wait.
Yes am really looking forward to my favourite radio stations in Holland
Thx Paul,
Fingers crossed.
In fact the latest and probably final code release candidate image was made available to the beta testers 24 hours ago.
It would not be unreasonable to expect general release very shortly (it seems to work flawlessly) but I'd be very surprised if this were to happen this week.

Any news yet

I still have not broken it, if that is what you mean.
The Beta testers have no more idea of the final release date than you-I'm sure it will appear as a download and be well advertised when available.
Bruce
What Bruce said. We are running what is probably the release candidate and it seems to work flawlessly. Only the first beta gave issues here (although I'm not 100% convinced it was caused by the FW) so either I haven't been testing it hard enough or my HDX and network are well behaved and stable.
If any issues are reported at this time they will be further investigated and it is possible that this might cause a delay - it's Naim's call. I expect we are close to release now.
Regards,
Michel
It occurs to me that the addition of Internet Radio brings with it a non-trivial increase in the difficulty of deciding what to listen to on my HDX + nDAC ....
Previously, disregarding playlists, I *only* had somewhere around 1,000 CDs or equivalents (some ripped, quite a few being purchased h-res downloads) to choose between at any point in time.
Now, at a stroke, the machine / system is *also* capable of allowing me to listen to any out of somewhere well in excess of 1,000 Internet Radio stations, from all across the planet .... and many of those in quite acceptable audio format.
So, the listening choice decision got much much tougher ... with each thing that I listen to, I exclude so many more others .... but OTOH I realise that in parallel I have acquired a new capability, to be exposed to new material from virtually anywhere, and at zero $ marginal cost.
Awesome!
Now, all I need to do is work out (when I have the time) how to arrange for playback of different source material (from the central HDX + nDAC system) in different rooms at the same time, without having to increase my mortgage :-)
the wait is excruciating - let's hope it isn't a ruse - like the infamous DVD5 scalar...
They appear to be damned every way. Rush it out and get flack for bugs and complaints that end users are crash test dummies. Say nothing, release when ready and get slapped for not giving notice. Or give a best estimate but refuse to release it until it is stable on all beta systems and be moaned at for the time slip. I suppose an alternative approach could be a variation on the Head Of State bulletin system, where they have a fully developed and stable FW release, then do a three month slow reveal down to day zero.
One of the many problems with beta testing is that issues are being investigated all the time and judgement calls have to be made. It's a fluid environment which changes by the hour, sometimes less, and goes forward as well as backward. A real time dialogue on this process is unhelpful and would take resources away from the coal face.
Frustrating though it may be, it will be out when it is ready and not until. I think this will be soon. The last beta has been running for two weeks. Testers will either get another release candidate or it will go live. Maybe a complete embargo on the development of this FW would the painless least line of resistance. That would disappoint me because I like to be informed.
