A new name to me, but a great discovery thanks to a recent Observer article. Their new album 'Tassili' is terrific - more acoustic than their previous efforts. They are apparently the kings of the desert blues, and who am I to disagree? Highly recommended.

Absolutely agree.

Their early recordings are well worth seeking out but are only on CD as far as I can tell.

Saw one of their very first gigs in London when they supported Taj Mahal. They were magnificent and even Taj, who was also very fine, had a smile on his face as he brought them back on at the end of his set to let them take the limelight and the encores.

The new album is being streamed for free at NPR All Songs First Listen if anyone is interested. I like it a bit more than the older albums from what I've heard.

Just started listening on NPR.

More of the same as far as I can tell, this is not a criticism BTW.

There seems to be a few (mainstream) guests on this particular album.

Gave the new LP a good play yesterday, on vinyl......smelt the desert heat!

Great album but I have to say I dont like the track with vocals in English!

Bet Robert Plant loves it as well.

Richard

p.s. They must have at least 3 albums on vinyl as that is how many I am lucky to have.

Hi Richard, yes I have three too. It's just the early ones that are only on CD I think.
