Ah, this is reassuring. Like a warm bath. You all brought your towels, right?
Thanks for reminding me...
And another thing... I'm a bit torn by the whole idea of the Hexagonal Phase.
I have avoided everything "Hitchhikers" not written by Douglas Adams though did enjoy Dirk Maggs' Tertiary, Quandary and Quintessential phases which were based on the third, fourth and fifth books. So do I now dive in and accept the continuation of D.N.A.'s creation, or still see it as Eoin Colfer and others cashing in on the past success and potentially diminishing Douglas' work? I steadfastly refused to read Sophie Hannah's Poirot books; and won't allow David Lagercrantz's continuation of the "Millennium" series into the house.
Its a Quandary!
Only a pan-galactic gargleblaster can help you make sense of that, Eloise...
The first episode definitely needs listening to more than once.
Bit poignant hearing Stephen Hawking, but very pleased he was part of it.

Perhaps I could just wrap a slice of lemon around a gold brick and hit myself with that instead?
(Anyway I downloaded it to listen to...)
Gave it about 3 minutes, utter drivel.
Whatever you do, don’t listen to the second episode, Martin. Now available on BBC iPlayer radio.

To be fair Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy has always been "utter drivel" ... doesn't mean it wasn't good enjoyable drivel.
For more fans of this ‘utter drivel’, Radio 4 Extra is re-broadcasting the whole of the first 2 series, starting this evening. Douglas Adams-tastic.
If you’ve only ever listened to the original series of Hitchhikers’ on one of the many commercial CD/cassette releases, you may enjoy listening to Fit the Third, currently on iplayer. At about 16 minutes in, they’ve restored the missing minute or so where Marvin ‘hummed like Pink Floyd’ that had to be cut for rights reasons. Lovely to hear it back in place again, after having a rather discombobulating edit in there all these years.
