Anyone know anything about DNM Resolution speaker cable?
Posted by: Graeme MacArthur on 15 March 2018
Hello folks,
A friend lent me some decent lengths of DNM Resolution loudspeaker cable to try with my NAP250DR and PMC Twenty 26 speakers. I don't know anything about this cable and am wary of connecting it. The reviews that I've read seem to be positive. The cable comes with DNM's own 4mm plugs fitted and I've read the writing on the back of the amp that says "Do not replace supplied loudspeaker plugs with individual 4mm plugs" which is of course exactly what I'd be doing. What's the reason for this warning?
Any views welcome. Thank you.

You need to be careful with a traditional Naim amp like the NAP250DR. The cable needs to provide adequate inductance and low capacitance for stability. That is why Naim can only recommend Naim speaker cable for this amplifier of the recommended minimum and maximum lengths per channel.
Thanks for pointing me to the FAQs. I was unaware. It seems that the DNM is pretty close electrically to the A5. It will also fit under our carpet!!!. I just need to hear it now.
Graeme if possible can you try the Tellurium QB too ?
Great flat cable which match Naim amplication, I run a 5 mtr pair and really a cable that makes a positive difference in performance, expensive but not silly expensive, or available s/h perhaps
I prefer it to A5, various Chord incl Epic & Signature and it seem not to loose timing abilities as DNM
What are the disadvantages of TQB?
As an aside...
Is the "Tellurium" in TQB just a marketing term? Tellurium Coppers (along with Sulphur Coppers) are just higher machinability (but less conductive) alloys of copper. Indeed copper telluride (Cu2Te) is actually quite undesirable in cables as it's both an intrinsic and an extrinsic semiconductor!
Have also been using DNM speaker cable and interconnects in a Vintage System with Bryston Pre - Power amps for the last 20 years.Never feel any need to change.Do like their midrange detail and lack of character.Just a great cable. And great V.F.M.

No idea Huge
Their range are pretty expensive and the founder is no longer in that company
Never heard any other than TQB in their range and really don't care what name the brand is, what other think. What matters to me is final performance along with expenses. Thats about it.
Offcourse there are other options out there, I just mentioned my own experience, something which I will compare with a recent aquired Witchhat Phantom speakercable when time permit. Its not flat though, probably not for OP.
Btw Rega does some flat wire, think its called Duet and VFM
There is another manufactured solid core cable that has yet to be mentioned and it's an excellent sounding cable, it's by a company called Vovox. I have tried these cables in my system based on the Naim importers recommendation. He imports both Naim and Vovox.
They are hand made in Switzerland, sound extremely transparent and detailed, not harsh, very good taut bass, seems to have an excellent synergy with Naim. Based on my own experience, I would seek them out for an audition.

Just marketing (of which they are very good at). Disadvantages... Google is your friend here.
Another new company is a True Signal audio company they have a speaker cable which sounds very good available as a loan via their website.
I rather liked DNM interconnects, I used DIN to phone to connect my CDX2 to my none Naim pre amp severeal years back. I thought they timed bearifully and rendered mids gorgeously and naturally with no undue prominences. They were ever so slightly soft in the very deep bass.. seemingly like the speaker cable, but I didn’t find this an issue in practice.
i find the owner of DNM, Denis Morecroft, a fascinating person to talk to.. and he got me thinking about RFI in audio replay systems many years back when most people were seemingly not aware of it.
DNM amplication is told to be amazing dynamic in the right setup
Due to low watt, speakers need to be very efficient
Guess expensive and limited availability, not so with their cables
I cannot add very much to this thread, apart from the following:
I used both TQ Black and Ultra Black but when I purchased the NAC A5 cable to go with the SN2 I actually preferred it.. strange when you consider the price difference but certainly the NAC A5 seemed more than adequate for my Naim amp into both the Living Voice and now the Magneplanar speakers

I need 2 x 9m lengths, so it can work out quite expensive. I've found some Tellurium QB on eBay but nowhere near long enough, and there are no dealers anywhere near me to facilitate an audition.
I've hooked up the DNM now and I'm impressed with the high frequency detail and mid-range but I'm not quite sure as yet what's going on with the bass.
Now you see why, with the bass handled by a sub, I like the cable so much in my particular setup!

With my own cable (whatever it is) the bass runs fairly wild. The DNM doesn't allow that but I'm not yet sure I like this particular kind of difference. I'll give it time.
