Is Naim Nova good for hi end headphones or should i get an additional amp for it?!

Hello people!

Just got Naim Nova pared with Davis acoustics courbet 5, and i must say the combo is super nice! So glad i got those speakers!

I also got Focal Clear headphones which sound pretty ok, but i haven't listened them with special headphone amp. What you think? Do i need a special amp? Didn't really want to buy another product but if that would really make headphones sound different i would have to i guess. Focal clear is really clear and very clean but lacks a little bass and maybe, maybe a little bass tightness can be achieved by getting a special amp for headphones?!

I'm so sorry for my english, not my native language so i apologize for this issue!

Oh oh by the way, for those who deciding about buying uniti line product (Atom, Star, Nova)... Atom is super product. If you not a freak who likes to understand the sound like a "scientist" just get Atom because for people who love music and enjoy the music itself instead of being a nerd, because its just that good! Its fantastic! I got Nova due to super sick discount and possibly placing it in a big living room (50m). In some ways i love Atom sound more than Star's and Nova's.

There is another thread on this. The RCA or DIN out are not line level ( so volume control is still via preamp) the OP in this other thread had virtually no volume when connecting his headphone amp. You would have to have the Nova cranked up to 100% volume, but your speakers would need disconnecting. Even then you should try a headphone amp before purchasing. Only the headphone socket in use deactivates the speakers.

Personally unless you are really unhappy with the sound I would not bother spending more money. By the way your English is just fine.

I've had my dealers Focal Elear headphones on demo along with a DAC V1 for a couple of weeks to use in my main system remote volume control was a must hence the V1.

I also have a Unitilite in a second system not sure how the headphone amplifier compares in the Unitilite and Nova all I can say is that whilst they sound average when using the Unitilite it is not until you plug them into the V1 that you realise just how good these headphones are the difference is quite incredible as it should be.

Thank you for your answer, you know i found out that headphones with less than 100 ohms would be just fine with uniti atom, star, nova which is a good thing! ))

Hello there ) I like Elear very much, pretty good headphones but you know what?!

I found out that all open headphones lack that bass that makes the listening process comfortable and easy and i found really fatiguing listening to open headphones due to their highs and clearness and brightness. I think i will send my Clear back to dealer and get Fostex TH900 MK2! My Lord what a headphones... you immediately feel that heavy music, and u can listen for hours without getting tired of all nuances that really get me personally tired! Therefore some closed headphones like Fostex sound as clear andairy as open do but with that nice tight bass and solid midrange!

MALIK, have you try'd the Bowers & Wilkins P9❓

You must have a "burn-in" time around 150 to 200 hours before they start to sing. Before that, they are a little bas-heavy.

Hi,

No i haven't btw.

Since Focal Clear lucks bass so much then it will be completely without bass lol )))

Actually i dont think headphones need burn in time, and if i burn them for 150 hour the sound wont differ that much. I think its one hell of a myth! ))

I have only positive experience with headphone "burn-in".

I use Stax electrostatics, with that voltage I find the idea of burn-in terrifying.
