Artist Sort and Album Artist Sort

Why are these sorted by Forename when Artist Sort and Album Artist Sort are tagged as 'Surname, Forename'?  I'm using dBpoweramp and Assset UPnP.

It's the way the metadata were written.

The app just displays what Asset gives it, and by default Asset just sorts alphabetically according to the metadata in the field you told it to look at.

There is a setting for Artist Sort Handling. I’ve never really worked it out. I’ve just got used to having foremames first, and looking for Elvis Costello under E has become second nature. So long as The is at the end so I can look for The Clash under C rather than T, I’m happy. Sometimes, getting it all perfect is just not worth the struggle. So long as it’s good enough, it’s ok.

Have you switched on the order by A-Z on the top of the name app. If so, the naim app will reorder the artist sort list to the name is in front. If you use the feature that albumartistsort is showing in the right way (Miles Davis and not Davis, Miles) than the naim app reorder the list by using the forename.

I've set Artist Sort Handling to 'Use Sort to Order Display'.  I understand that you are prepared to compromise but I would like a solution if at all possible.  It really shouldn't be complicated or difficult.  Nor is what I'm wanting particularly idiosyncratic.  In my hand written address book John Smith appears as exactly that (not Smith, John) under S.  What is the point of Artist Sort order and Album Artist Sort Order if Asset just ignores them?  Fairly certain iTunes does not have this issue.

Update - Asset apparently needs the tags to be worded exactly as 'Artist Sort' and 'Album Artist Sort'.  MusicBrainz Picard uses 'Artist Sort Order' and 'Album Artist Sort Order' which Asset does not recognise.  So I've added the two precisely worded tags and searching using Album Artist / Album (which is the way I like) is now working the way I want but for some reason searching under Artist has not changed.  It would also be nice to find a way of avoiding having to edit nearly 22,000 tracks artist by artist.
