New firmware this week

Just received an email from Naim:

We are pleased to announce that the Mu-so & Mu-so Qb Multiroom compatibility firmware update v.1.6 will be available to download this week.

This new update will enable you to now seamlessly play music between your Mu-so all-in-one system and other Naim streaming products, as well as fix some known bugs.

The Naim app will notify you when the update for your product becomes available.

So the new firmware and updated iOS app seem to have cured the funnies with my Atom, running for a few days now and all seems stable,  no longer have discovery issues it seems, artwork and display is solid and the radio tab on the app no longer vanishes randomly! Regarding SQ, not sure if there’s any real difference tbh but perhaps a little more defined in the mids but certainly no omg moments!

Unfortunately, restarting the UQ2 did not solve the clock problem. If I reset the factory defaults will I lose the radio presets?

Yes I'm afraid you will. But it will probably solve the clock problem and putting the radio presets back shouldn't take too long?

I understand that the upgrade to the new Uniti range (atom, nova and star) cncentrated on functionality whereas the SQ tweaks were included in the firmware 4.6 upgrade to rhe N series streamers, streamer/preamps and the legacy Unitis having been in development for some years.

I have done the factory reset all settings (and set up radio presets again!) and the clock is back.

Spoke too soon, all the previous issues above have returned and to add to that I switched on the Atom this morning to a radio station and all grand except the display was blank, nothing would revive it except switching off and back on. On Sunday the remote died and I had to remove the batteries temporarily to reset it. So now no listening session passes without some sort of issue occurring which is becoming seriously annoying. Pity cos it sounds pretty good, I’ve certainly axed my plans to upgrade to a Nova, dammed if I’m going to risk spending the guts of €5k for a product that’s not fully resolved.  My Muso was perfect for nearly 2 years so why should the Atom be any different?
