Just a plug for this show on the 14 & 15 April , Naim will be in attendance and a few good other companies.Kudos 505s speakers , Atc speakers and Russell K. to name but a few .Geoff and Pete will be on hand to inform you on any product, usually a very good relaxed show, its Doubletree Hilton Hotel Chester postcode CH2 3PD , junction 12 of the M53.
Acoustica have said that they are hoping to have the ND555 up and running in a 500 series system at the show. No promises, though!!!

Now that's got my attention ................ I'll check with Geoff nearer the time, and more than likely drive over.

Yes - that was the case when I rang them last week, they hoped to have it there - fingers crossed! Also really looking forward to the ATC speakers being on demo, plus the Kudos and Russell K rooms too.
I'm going to try as I'll be in the North West that weekend , mainly interested in Active ATC but also the Kudos .
I will be at this. Interested in a proper listen to the 505’s and the 555 If it’s there. Not been in a while but used to be a great day out.
Rob
I usually drive over and am I hoping to get there again this year. Particularly interested in the ATC room, I hope they have some active models running. It's a good show, though it can prove an expensive day out in the long run!
Roger
There's a link on the shop website to the most recent newsletter with some info on what the plans are. IIRC ATC are in two rooms, one with active 50 and another with active 100.
This is the only show I go to each year. The fact that it's the only show right on my doorstep has only a slight influence.
But seriously, if you like an audio show in relaxed, not too crowded surroundings, in a venue close to a motorway, with free parking, with some manufacturers of seriously good audio equipment exhibiting, AND with a good selection of vinyl product on sale, this is the place for you to be next weekend (14/15 April).
I mean, I've been somewhat less than 100% fit the last couple of months, but I shall load my backpack with appropriate pain killers and cheese sandwiches, and book a private ambulance if necessary to get there; it's that worth seeing
Its a good relaxed show, perfect for Naimists as they're in at least 70% of the systems. Kudos usually do a great job there.
Hoping for the ND555 but it will probably be feeding some expensive Focals which will spoil the chance to enjoy it.

Could not agree more, top end NAim sounded boring at Bristol on Focal.

Unfortunately I have to agree, the Naim demo rooms I’ve heard at shows have all been disappointing, and it’s easy to see a general lack of interest in their rooms, which only ever use Focal speakers. Fortunately, demos by Kudos, Dynaudio and others tend to use Naim electronics, and there is usually more to get excited about there. Then there’s the Chord Streaming Cable demo
Are the under 50s allowed to attend?

Of course - but only if you visit the SAGA room !
I'll be hopping over from the Isle of Man for this show on Saturday.
Looking forward to it as I haven't been to a hifi show for about 30 years!
Is it worth bringing a few LP's or some favourite tracks on a pen drive?
I'd suggest the USB stick as the best option as most rooms seem to have a digital source. Not sure if there are any rooms with a turntable in use this year, even though there are usually vinyl sales from Theme One Records (I think they are called)
Have to admit i'm really looking forward to this show.

Yes, but be prepared for some funny looks if you take any classical stuff into the Naim room

Why so? Do really Naim enthusiasts dislike classical music?

Sure... but please don't rush around, you may bump into one of our zimmer frames

Not so much a dislike of classical music, more a need to evaluate what you're hearing quickly; in a show environment you just don't have the time to sit and listen to enough of most classical tracks to form an opinion.
For example, when ATC were dem'ing their range at the Acoustica store a few months back, they wheeled in the ATC SCM100s right after the 50's, plugged them in, played a few bars of a MOR track and within a minute I had decided I needed to hear these at home. The store demo was nowhere near as frantic as the show environment, even though the show is among the more relaxed venues. I'm sure that would not have happened if they'd been using a classical piece of music.

This one doesn't. Well, apart from opera, obviously.

Having been blinded by the reflections off all the bald heads present, mine included!

Which will have run out of the best beers by then, as the festival starts on Thursday!
Most likely true, though they’ve got better at judging demand since the first one - but Thurs is always best!

Which show, this years or next?
