It's now been over 4 hours. What did you decide? Still waiting or aborted?

Before I got my Cisco switch updates would often stall on my Superuniti and I would abort, sometimes more than once. Never bricked it and it always successfully updated eventually.

Not advising, just saying...

I think Michael has a 172XS. If the update is stuck at 2% on the initial send of update to the 172 then there definitely shouldn't be any problem aborting it. Also it shouldn't get stuck like that and so it is unlikely to sort itself out.

if it were me I would abort, restart my PC, restart my 172XS and try again. Ultimately the update can't brick the unit, although it can leave it not working and need you to do the update again, and the worst might be taking it back to your dealer to have them do it.

It will restart the update but only gets to 15-20% before it loses communication. I have an older laptop so it could be the USB port is not fast enough or the cable.

So I am going to try a newer desktop and then take it to the dealer.

Thanks for the help.

It's quite a small download so I doubt that it's your USB port not being fast enough. And unless the cable has a fault, it should keep working if it works. Maybe the PC doesn't have enough free memory (I mean RAM not the HD) and the swapping is taking too long so the programme times out.

But anyway I agree trying another PC is a good plan and letting the dealer do it is too.

Took it into dealer. They got it updated but it had a fault code (61 I think) meaning one of the boards was going out. Shipped off to get fixed.

During beta testing I recall at least one unexpected fault 61 that one experienced beta group member reported on an NDX and as it happens I also ran into this today when I was updating a Unitilite. I don't think it's actually a fault in this circumstance and in both of these cases I know of, a restart of the streamer and a factory reset sorted it out.

After doing the FW update I did a factory reset and got the error 61 on my qute 2. Had a little panic, then did the turn off wait 30 secs and turn on again.

Seems to have resolved the problem as all working now.
