It all, how to do it & the Silabs driver link,  in the firmware installation instructions .pdf

Note that for Win 10 you'll probably need V6.7.5 of the Silabs driver if your Win 10 is up to date.

The Naim 4.6 firmware download is a zip file,  unzip & you will find the install instructions .pdf.  Read these instructions.  This will tell you how to install the Naim firmware installer software     & also in the instructions .pdf you will find a link that installs the Silabs USB driver.    The cable (specified in the .pdf) is a USB A to mini-USB B.

Many thanks Mike-B for your helpful advice.  However, I do have some sympathy for French Rooster (mon semblable, mon frere?) because the advice from Naim was hardly crystal clear. I suspect that, like me, he downloaded the Update Release Notes and then watched the (somewhat less than invaluable) You Tube video which didn’t explicitly point you in the direction of the crucial Firmware Update Guide (and its embedded link to the Silabs driver) in the unzipped Updater folder. Incidentally I was able to utilise the USB A to mini-USB B cable from an old external DVD drive. Not sure, French Rooster, whether your current challenge is with downloading the driver from the Silabs site (just click the link in the Firmware Update Guide to download the zip folder) or installing the downloaded driver onto your PC (extract the files from the downloaded zip folder and double click on the appropriate Installer.exe file). Bon chance!

Agreed Roger,  however the instructions .pdf is pretty much the same as its always been & I don't recall this level of problems.  The main issue IMO is/was the Silabs driver,  that has caused a lot of unnecessary confusion & put doubt into many minds.  That said I don't think its as simple as just blaming the driver,  I'm struggling to understand what has gone wrong as I've had no issues at all & am using the same old driver that I've used throughout a the years of beta testing,  most all with Win-10.  i've since gone to Silabs & got a copy of v6.7.5 which is now running alongside the old driver.  I've run another firmware install to test something else  but could not check to see what driver it was using,  I suspect it was the old one as it was set up for my preferred language & checkbox items.

I also had an issue when I used a USB to multi adapter. Did not display the driver.

Had to dig out the old cable that worked in the past.  Smooth sailing from there.
