Proac Tablette 10 linking bars
Posted by: Charles44 on 08 April 2018
I recalled that GraemeH uses Proac Tablette 10 speakers and had removed the linking bars and claimed that the sound was "better" I think. Well I did just the same yesterday removing the cable links I used and honestly cannot tell the difference. So I will leave as is.
Perhaps this tells me my hearing is not what it was some years ago.
Link bars on my Tab10 have been removed instead I have stripped back the NACA5 and passed this through the binding posts. To my lugs a better presentation then the supplied link bars.
I have owned several pairs of ProAcs through the years, with intimate exposure to others, and personally always found the supplied link bars to be more than adequate.
That said, on my current D28s, I am running double terminated NACA5, which does seem to be a bit better.

Interesting, how did you insulate the exposed cable between each set of terminals - right and left.

Left the copper exposed between the posts.

I would put some heat shrink tubing over the exposed section of wire.
I don't use the link bars either and pass the wire through the binding posts.
This was the recommendation of my dealer and I followed it.

Quite the opposite, and against the prevailing view...I found they sounded less good with cable links! The linking bars were returned.

It's been said hundreds of times on this forum, but the Naim F connection is really the only way to turn a biwire speaker into what many crave a good single wire speaker. It's the ONLY way to guarantee the identical signal transfer to both drivers. I guarantee using bare wire you can return to your speaker plugs week in week out month in month out and add a little extra turn on the tightening lug. Showing the connection is constantly degrading as wire socket interface changes shape.
Totally agree with David above.
I have hands like shovels once my binding posts are nipped up job done
Joking aside I'm about to do a room move and require longer lengths of NACA5 at this point I will solder banana plugs as an F connector at the speaker end.
