Naim app issue on album/artist view.

Posted by: Arie Ossewaarde on 16 April 2018

since yesterday, the album/artist view on my naim app on the IPad is mixing up albums and artist.  It still shows the artist in alphabetical order, but it shows a different album cover from a different artist  when click on artist it sometimes does actually shows the album that belongs  to the picture shown under artist. But sometimes it shows a complete Radom mess of songs from different artists.  The other views seems to be ok.  Anyone any clue how to fix this?

The app is just a dumb reader,  it is only able to show you what the server (NAS or whatever you have) is sending it.  What is the server type & make & what is the UPnP/DLNA media server software ??

Re-scan your files on your server ie. Asset and then restart the server. That should fix it

I am using Twonky Media on a Qnap NAS  TS-131

Clear the UPnP cache in the app.

Touch the 'gearwheel' top right, select 'input settings -> UPnP -> Clear UPnP Cache -> OK.

Kill/restart the app, let it read the NAS then all should be well.

I use Twonky Media on WD NAS. Never need to touch the NAS unless there is an indexing problem involving editing metadata to replace lowercase letters with uppercase (it thinks Abba and ABBA are different groups!)

Thanks a lot for this suggestion   It has indeed solved the problem !

Although it did solve the majority of the issues I had (There was actually not a single artists/album that looked right) it has been solved now for the majority of my albums. However, incidently, there is an album that a) shows the wrong album cover and/or b) shows every single song as an album of is own. This however does only occur when there are songs "included" in the album that belongs to one or more different albums from most of the time also different artists. This is not shown on the NAS itself, nor does it show up on MediaCentre (which I use to manage my library.  Any other cache I need to clear?

I’d suggest you purchase Asset and load it on your Qnap. It’s much better than Twonky and you can custimise the browse tree to get it to show your music as you want it. It will also transcode flac to WAV for better sound quality.  The issue you are facing is around compilation albums where the tracks have different artists, where the album artist is usually set to various artists.

Happy to try Asset, but the issue I have reported has nothing  to do with multiple artist albums. That in itself gives massive issues in the combination jriver/twonky/Naïm app but I have found ways to solve this. The particular issue I mentioned is occuring on single artists, but probably on less that 5% of my albums. It did happen recently after I had to shutdown the Nas due to power failure. After restarting everything this was the result.
