Naim Unitiqute 2 speakers

Can't comment on Zensors quality but a truly square room plays havoc with standing waves (cancellation / reinforcement) so that may ultimately be your problem. Place the speakers at slightly different heights (10cm) and slightly offset (non-symmetric) in the corners and slightly 'off' in pointing direction. This may help. If absolutely no use then check my profile for suitable speakers (I run 2 UQ2s for some years now with no urge to change!)

I have had both Rega RX1 & RS1 speakers on my Qute upstairs

They are a bit larger than Dali but work well close to rear wall. They are an easy load too, so in most scenarios 30w is enough for them.

I did try some vintage Royds bookshelfs too, these are no longer manufactured though excellent speakers on its own right.

A third recommendation would be if you could find original Heybrook Hb1, really excellent vfm

Opinion on Gurus: Difficult to get hold of in UK, impossible in France. Maybe you have better luck with availability but they are (allegedly) excellent performers. Will hold their value too.

All you may need is some isolation on your existing speakers/gear. I just put some Herbie’s grungebuster material (best bang for the buck is the cut your own sheets) under the spike discs of my Rega RX3’s, and under any gear other than Naim, from server on up. I also invested in a massive maple cutting board to sit my Naim boxes on inside the stuck-with IKEA cabinet (grungebuster s under the feet as well), and that along with the grungebuster material really tightened up the bass without losing any (gaining actually). Herbie’s has even more/better isolating products but thought I would start with the most inexpensive first and it really made a difference. Probably threaded gliders for the RX3’s next. 

That said, I’m running Kef Ls50’s nearfield with the UQ1 in the basement office and it sounds stunning. I have them hung in space on 6x6 supporting posts and they sound amazing. They need to be away from the wall, which I never could do upstairs. 

+1 for Guru Juniors on Unitiqute, they are a great match. They are also designed for near wall placement with heavy toe-in, both of which I found to help them work well in rooms with acoustically problematic dimensions/surfaces. The heavy toe-in helps to reduce first reflections from side-walls and in some cases can give a wider sweetspot for listening, while the frequency response is designed to make use of room reinforcement.

Guru Juniors - I would really like to demo a pair of the Juniors (and QM10) with my 'Qute. The trouble is their limited availability in the UK, unless they have increased dealer network since I last got in touch with Guru?

I hear you. I was lucky in that the dealer in Singapore has stuck with Guru although probably also had gaps in the supply. The UK seems to be served now by the main distributor in Sweden, so I guess there is no option to demo, although you can buy direct from the guru site. Maybe you could find a friendly owner/forum contributor who would be prepared to host you and your qute for a listening session?

I tried Juniors and QM10-2's with my qute, with and without NAP100. To me the Juniors are a better match with the bare qute, the NAP100 is needed to drive the QM10 better, and even with the NAP100 I felt that the Juniors were very close to the QM10, and so were better value at half the price. 

I would lean towards Juniors (maybe with a subwoofer if room-size warrants it) for a qute. If set on QM10, I would add a 200 power amp or maybe swap the qute for an Atom.

Ah, I see. You are lucky that your dealer still stocks them. I think there is one dealer in the UK who still can supply them, although they are a 200 mile drive away. If a second hand pair come up, then I may well take the risk and plunge.

Interesting observations about the UQ2 with and without the NAP100. I’ve toyed with the idea of adding a NAP (of some sort), but at the moment I’m undecided as to the overall direction I want to go in so I’ll just keep things as simple as possible. And as a consequence I’m finding it rather liberating having just a one box system - for now!

Are Russell K speakers available in your area? If so they are worth auditioning. I thought the Red50 and Red100 made a truly superb paring with the UQ2, but the only restriction being they need a little space around them (more than I can certainly accommodate). Fast, dynamic and really engaging. Cracking little boxes... Alternatively I have heard Dynaudio Emit M20, Dynaudio Excite X14, Rega RX1 all make wonderful music with the UQ2, but the Russell K's were my fav. By far the best bang for $ were the Dynaudio Emit M20 - ridiculously good for their modest cost.

My brother runs an UQ2 via Nac A5 into Guru Juniors. Nice combination, definitely not light on bass.

I finally have a pair of Guru Junior's. Sound's very good vs Dali zensor 1. The cables which i have are Van den hul the skyline hybrid. I think that i need Naca5. Does it sound better?

I like Vienna Haydns with my UQ2 in the office.  Speakers are placed asymmetrically to my left and right at different heights on counter and wide window sill — about every wrong way possible — very pleasing result.  They are towed in a bit, as I am only about 2.5 feet in front of the speakers’ front-planes, and one is about 4 feet to the left, the other is three feet to the right of my computer screens.

I run Totem Model1 Signatures off my AV2 NAP-V175 in the living room.  I swapped the two sets of speakers, but did not like either as well in alt locations.

Hard to know until you try.

UQ2 + Neat Iota

We have Blumenstein Audio Thrashers, upgraded to approach the Triton.   It uses an 8" full range speaker and a small tweeter.    It was designed around low power tube amps and the UQ2b makes it sing beyond what you might imagine.  

I am satisfied about the Guru junior with UQ2, but the next step is the cables! (look my profile pucture) Naca5 by naim are ok? The sound is certainly changed? Now i have a pair of van den hul the skyline hybrid. 

In the future probably i will add into the system, the nap100. It's worth it?

My brother has Nac A5. We compared it to old Nac A4, and Nac A5 was better - a bit better highs and more controlled low. I did not have the impression that the UQ was in need for a Nap100. Maybe when you upgrade the loudspeakers to more demanding loudspeakers, that it might be relevant.

Be aware that Nac a5 is stiff like bamboo and it might be difficult to use in typical sets like UQ + Guru's.

UQ + Gurus is indeed a good combination.

PMC Twenty 22 is a 90dB sensitivity speaker, it works wonders with the UQ2. And no need for an additional NAP 100 which while it adds power, it takes prat away as well.

Well done on finding a set of Gurus! I've used naca5 and the bigger vdh magnum in most of my systems. 

Skyline is a bit on the thin side, so changing to naca5 should be a solid choice for your qute, I would expect it to help fill out the sound a little and let it breathe and bounce nicely. If you generally prefer vdh cables then find some used D352 if you can.

With the Juniors, I wouldn't bother with the nap100 unless you feel like the current combo is not able to fill your space adequately. First pay attention to the speaker cables and setup the Juniors as per Guru instructions i.e. close to the wall and start with them toed in so you can just see the outside panel of the box from your listening position, then experiment from there if you feel the need.

We went for the Crimson Electronics speaker cables.   The standard NACA5 banana plugs would not work at the UQ2 end.   The Crimson cables plug right in, are cheaper, not as stiff, and sound great.

Though I have no UQ myself, I think there are special Naim UQ plugs.

My brother has standard crimped banana's on the A5.
