TomTom Replacement SL2 Foam Grills .
Posted by: Theron on 18 April 2018
Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone on here has seen or bought a pair of these ?
Are they exactly the same as the Naim originals ?
I don't want to waste £224 on a set if they are not as good or even better than the originals.
I haven’t but having bought no end of gear from James at Tom Tom over the years I doubt you’ll be getting something first rate
I believe HH has bought a pair and a couple of other members did too. Feedback was excellent but I’m sure Nigel will be along to confirm.
Correction - ......that you’ll be getting something that isn’t first rate. Been a long day! Sorry James
Yes, I have some, and they are excellent. They make my speakers look good as new.
I have purchased them, they are just like the originals, it wouldn't surprise me if Tom Tom sourced them from the same place as naim.

Yes, I too have bought them and they are excellent.
I’ve purchased foam grilles for my SBL’s, from Tom Tom quite recently. Arrived within 6 days-I live in New Zealand...exemplary product, exemplary service.
Thanks for the above .
Any pictures of them you can post please?
Would like to see what they look like on your SL2s and what the cutout looks like ?
Looking good, HH.
Hopefully Theron will now have the confidence to buy a set.
Tom Tom and his supplier deserve great credit for bringing these to market since ther are so few SL2s about. I can also vouch for the SBL grills which are also excellent.
Yours are looking lovely Nigel!

Many thanks for taking the time to do that.
looks pretty much the same as mine.
Will order a set and put them in the cupboard until needed.
Mine are still in good condition but have started to bobble a little.
Is it just your photo or do you not bother with a gap between bottom box and grill cover ?
I always use the cardboard strip that came with mine for the gap.
There is a gap. It only needs to be as big as that between the two boxes. Any bigger and it looks funny. I didn’t know there was a cardboard strip; it was probably recycled.
when you buy them new the cardboard strip comes in its own slot in the pink plastic bag with the instruction book.
it lays on the bottom box to make sure the grill is the correct optimal distance apart from the bottom box.
Yours do look a bit to close.
As long as it doesn't touch the lower box, you're fine. The cardboard strip was included to make this easier to achieve but the gap itself is not so critical give or take a few mm here and there.
Agreed. You don’t need a cardboard strip to position the grill with a small gap. As long as it’s not touching the lower cabinet gap size really makes no difference in my experience.
