Vintage Active Speakers

Was in at my dealer today and spied a pair of these. Apparently built for the BBC for outside broadcast Rodgers( forget the model no) speakers. They're active, powered by dedicated Quad amps with built in crossovers. Unfortunately they weren't running whilst I was there but Michael did say they sounded rather good.

Ah the LS5/8. IIRC for later versions Chord provided amplification (modified with built in active crossovers).

For anyone interested in knowing more - a chap called Mark Hennessy runs a website with a very detailed section on these speakers including a rebuild of the 405 amps. Well worth a visit.
