Control Tidal music from my Mac to Uniti Atom?

Posted by: Gaetanop on 03 May 2018

Hello everybody, I made some search on the forum but couldn't find the answer.

I recently bought the Uniti Atom - great product - and chosed to test Tidal. I'm a longtime Spotify user but spending so much on an hi-fi system makes it worth considering Tidal.

I discovered that while I'm able to choose music on Spotify from my iMac (connected via wi-fi, no network cable between the iMac and the Atom), I can't do the same using Tidal. It has to happen via the Naim App on iPhone or iPad. Did I miss something? Can't I choose music directly on my mac?

I also tried to stream the music via Bluetooth or Airplay from the iMac but it won't find the Atom... is this by design?

Thanks a lot for your help!

You cant use the Tidal desktop app to control Tidal on the Atom unless you use Airplay or Chromecast which you really don't need to.

Airplay needs to be enabled in the input settings of the Naim  app as does Bluetooth. They are not enabled by default.

If your already enabled check the Naim app sees your Atom if not you might have a network issue preventing them to talk to each other .

Thanks for your quick answer. Airplay & Bluetooth are both enabled.

There must be something wrong with my iMac because:

1. My Samsung TV is detecting the Atom via Bluetooth. I can stream the sound.

2. I can stream music from a YouTube video from my iPhone directly to the Atom via Airplay

3. My macbook pro can find the Atom

4. My iPhone finds the Atom via Bluetooth

... but my iMac is the only one that can't connect to the Atom via Bluetooth or Airplay... While it perfectly finds my Apple Tv which is next to the Atom :-/

Is there anything special I need to do on the iMac?

Could it be a firewall rule somewhere. Is it using DHCP, connected to the same router and and  on the same network subnet. I would check your network settings and compare them. See if you can ping the Atom from a terminal. Find the Atoms IP address from the app and then in terminal type ping followed by the IP address. If it can't connect then somethings blocking it. Can't offer up anything else as I dont have anything apple. In
