Unitiserve

First off sorry for not being in the know, but, can someone please give advice/help, i currently stream music to my superuniti from my windows compuer using Asset upnp, and the Naim n-stream app, i have been looking at a. Naim Unitiserve, but not sure how i would get my Flac files from my computer on to the Unitiserve, aslo , how would one set it up on my network, any advice would be much appreciated
There are plenty of posts on this subject.
if your music is already ripped, getting a UnitiServe / Core may not be necessary. A NAS running Asset or MinimServe may be a good option.
A basic network setup is as follows (picture courtesy of Mike-B). NAS or UnitiServe would be connected to a switch / modem/router.
Your SuperUniti would be the same as NDX in this picture.
If you decide to go down the UnitiServe / Core route once you have all your components set up, a UnitiServe will scan the network for any available music files. It can then import them from your PC onto its hard-drive.
Hope the above helped a bit.

you must first create a network share with your serve. Then just send the downloads to the serve, the same way as sending to a memory stick. No cable needed, it will be sent via network, wifi or lan.
Hi thanks for your quick response, would I need a switch as I have a spare port on my router, I have read that streaming from the Unitiserve will yield better sound quality than from my computer, do you know if this would be the case

yes, a dedicated switch connected to your router. Superuniti and unitserve connected to these same switch.
Transferring your existing music to a Unitiserve is straightforward. Connect it to your network, find its drive on your computer, and you will see a folder on it called Downloads. Just copy your music files into that folder. No prior configuration is required.
If you need more Ethernet ports, just add a switch to your network. There is no need for any of the complicated sounding tweaks that you may have read about on other threads here, a simple £20 switch and a regular Cat5e cable will be fine.
Thank you, just to clear one thing up, do I need a switch?

yes , a simple 5 ports switch, for L20 as said Chrissu.
If you have enough switch ports on your router you do not necessarily need a switch, but there are a couple of reasons why it may help.
Depending on the location of your router and other devices, you can avoid multiple long cable runs by running a single cable to a suitable place.
Some routers have poor built in switches, in which case a separate one may perform more effectively.
