Is this forum becoming tired?

Do you sometimes find it a struggle to find something new and interesting to discuss on this forum. Of course we are a niche forum and there is only so much that can be discussed but still to me it seems that more is being said by less people (the same people) about the same old subjects.
Even in my short time here about three years it feels like some of the more interesting and eclectic members seemed to have either left or have slowly posted less and less leaving us a very agreeable but sometimes less interesting forum.
For a company that was built upon free thinking that wants to push itself forward and attract new customers it feels perhaps this forum doesn't reflect this. I cannot imagine any of the new Uniti customers coming to Naim Audio for the first time rushing to post on this forum.
This isn't a dig at anyone in particular and I am a regular poster and so as much a part of what I'm describing as anyone. Perhaps it is just me and all of the rest of you are inspired and super enthusiastic about what you find posted here but for me some new and dare I say younger posters would be great and very welcome.
I used to enjoy Hifi Coner more than I do these days but that may well be down to the reduction in Naims HIFI product portfo. I agree George FF was good copy too and his contributions are missed.
What this forum needs is a lively new thread about.....sandwiches.

Funny that - I just had a cheese & tomato sandwich for lunch ????
It sure didn't help to recently loose quality members with deep insight and knowledge in music like Max and Florestan.
My personal interest in Hi Fi matters had reached new lows when last month, after purchasing a ticket for the Chicago AXPONA show, I decided at the last minute that it was a waste of time for me and chose not to attend. I offered my ticket to Kuma who also decided to stay at home so it was wasted.
Making president Trump off limit prevents us from discussing important world events like N. Korea, the Iranian nuclear treaty and the move of the US embassy to Jerusalem.
Bring back [@mention:1566878603987768] - that'd liven things up!
That said, I think this forum is great. I'm not interested in streaming, and not especially interested in hi-fi minutae (though I like the systems pics and the stuff about tape decks) so I generally stay away from them, as I do threads in the Cell on subjects I'm bored by (F1) or where the arguments are cyclical (Brexit). But seeing new photos from [@mention:1566878603925365] and [@mention:1566878604011917] is always a pleasure and I love seeing what other members are listening to, and I like posting bombastic screeds on movies.
You get out of this forum what you put in.
I wish @davemarshall didn't make me spend money on CDs I hadn't previously considered, though

Yes, he's a bad man
The forum ebbs and flows. Mostly interesting threads, great music recommendations. It's generally a good place to pop in and out of and see what's going on.

Wisnae me, a big boy did it an' ran away!
Seriously though, when I started down the Naim path, which can seem quite confusing initially, I received some great help from forum members, and it's still the case that "newbies" get some great advice from the forum.
I do consider the "What are you listening to?" thread the most important one though, as "it's all about the music", and have been introduced to some great choons over the years.
Naim lovers are music lovers first, Hifi lovers second. and forum lovers last. Although I don't much fancy going seconds after everyone's had a go.
When I joined in 2011, many of us were still kittens. Now we are (cool) cats -- still nice, but not as playful; some have strayed away.
Some have had nice people gently take the mouse away - "There, that's better, isn't it?"
Richard never varies; praise God.
Thanks to all who keep looking in.

Now I have the boxes and wires I like, I’ve spent much more time in the Music Room - it’s been dangerously expensive but I’ve picked up some great recommendations which I’d never otherwise have come across...
I will have served my first decade here in 3 months time. I do post less these days, and generally I observe less activity than when I first joined. Like others I miss George, and would also welcome Stu (Munch) and a few others back. Controversial yes, but they made the place interesting.
I’m being deliberately really boring these days, and trying to minimise my postings to those things I have direct experience of. When I tried things that were more ‘fun’, it resulted in rather nasty personal attacks that I found rather upsetting. So boring it is.

Wow this prompted me to check when I joined and I’m genuinely shocked that it was way back in 2007!
My pet hate is when someone asks a question some will bark use the search.Yes 80% of all questions have probably been asked, but new view and things move on, so forum members should be more tolerant ,or else we all use the search panel and we have less posts just my view.
DaveBk & HH, both your posts part summed it up for me. I too miss peeps like George & his various aliases & the other folks mentioned & more. I continue to enjoy a lot of the forum chat & banter, but I do wonder how many times people ask the same old same old questions (where oh where is the search button) & why people have to make their LAN's so complicated or on the other hand so substandard .........
My forum joining date was followed a year later by retirement & in retrospect I have to admit the forum's technical side became a sort of withdrawal fix / work substitute (sad). My Naim learning curve & the initial enthusiasm, periodically reignited by my own & friends system changes & learning new & more about LAN & 'tinternet stuff, it was all very stimulating. But now with the new platform stuff arriving I'm feeling left behind & I've come to an impasse; why ? I (we) have made the decision not to change/upgrade anything until we've made a house move, that will be maybe next year, maybe longer. So I guess at least for the time being I too have become part of the bored.
I think this forum legendary!
Wasn't this forum awarded by the Queen a few years back ?
Tired like an old sock that is worn until it is thread bare but it still serves its purpose.

Great tip Minh, I hear a tune coming on ........

One deliberately boring person cannot make an entire forum tired or boring no matter how boring that person deliberately tries to be it would have to be a group effort so no need for the confession. And I very much doubt that any genuine real attempt at 'fun' would result in any nasty personal attacks on this forum but if I'm wrong then that isn't very nice or acceptable but no doubt with moderation being as fair as it is on this forum then those nasty personal attackers were held to account.

The place would be less boring if members stood their ground and didn't run so often to the moderator to whine about personal attacks, causing topics to be closed and non UK members leave with a feeling that there are some untouchable princes among us.

Totally agree Haim my reference to the moderators was for those who feel they have been personally attacked and for whatever reason feel unable to stand their ground . I would also add that any intervention by moderators should be posted on the forum as transparency is the best policy IMO and that way we can all learn from any over stepping of forum boundaries andit might deter people if they are running to the moderators to 'tell teacher' from doing so.
In a couple of days I will have been here a year. Love the "WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO AND WHY MIGHT ANYONE BE INTERESTED?" thread! It is worth the price of admission alone for all the new music I have been exposed to. I never get bored reading about what others are playing and if interested then taking it out for a spin on TIDAL.
During the first few months I really appreciated the advise I received from members who responded to my newbie questions. Yes, I did learn to use the search function and did read through a lot of old threads and did gather some knowledge but direct interaction with members when you first get here worked best for me to get up and running.
At my age I don't see myself going through a lot of upgrades or experimenting with different configurations. My goal was to put together a nice little kit to enjoy in my retirement years (hope to get there in the near future) and feel that I can manage quite well with what I currently have. (the disclaimer of course, is I could change my mind) I still enjoy reading about what others are planing for the future and their reasoning behind the decisions as well as the reports from the different shows.
I mostly stay away from the political threads, or will make a single comment and then move on. Works for me and my sanity.
Like all social web sites there are a few who contribute quite a lot and the information is well received and appreciated. Then there are a few who contribute a lot and it just doesn't work for the readers. Perhaps I am one of them since I mostly hang out in the "WAYLTAWMABI?" thread, "Song Track of the Day," Nice Photo" and What CD have you Just Purchased" threads.
All I know is I am new to NAIM, fairly new to the forum and do not think the place is tired.
JMHO & YMMV
I'm really pleased that so many of us are protective of and find so much to be positive about on this forum I for one could learn something about being more positive from this thread and about the good things this forum has to offer, so thank you for that.

Nice posts Haim and Bob.
A curious aspect of this thread with regard to moderation is that there was previously a policy that disallowed mention of former members. Apparently that policy is no longer in place.
As for the whiners that flag posts, used to be those threads were edited and continued. Too often now threads simply vanish with no explanation. The whiners win, the princes prevail, and there is less on the forum.
Funny as it may sound, I've often felt that statements made here with a "British accent" are better accepted than those with the American (perhaps more direct) vernacular.
